installing radio in fiero by 90turbo1

when you install the radio into a fiero do you cut that metal bracket out of the dash to make the radio sit flush with dash? i am having troubles with mine I wants to stick out.

let me know what you need to do to sit them in flush.

i have the hummount kit comming. tried a plastic metra kit.

Yes - you can remove that support bracket to allow a different radio to sit further back.

As I recall, that bracket is just held in with rivets. A long screwdriver and hammer will remove it in short order. I would put something in its place to support the rear of the radio, though. Even a wood or styrofoam shim is better than nothing.

I just put a Pioneer unit in my car and used the installation kit from Crutchfield and it was a breeze.
My unit didn`t come close to hitting that bracket though.
And the brackets that came with the installation kit bolted right up to where the stock radio bolted to.
It does stick out past the faceplate just a tad but that doesn`t bother me.
It`s only about a 1/4 or so.

I'd pop the rivets and then make a 1.25"-1.50" spacer to move it back 1.25"-1.50"
allowing you to still support the head unit..
