I am aware that the 1988 model year has a redesigned steering, suspension and brake systems.
But does anyone know what the actual difference is between the front outer tie rod ends?
I am thinking it most likely is a geometry, or inner tie rod diameter or thread difference.
At most parts shops, the 1988 part is less expensive than the '84-'87 part.
Thank you for the input.

I don't know if this will be useful or not, but the 88 Fiero uses the same outer tie rod ends as the '97 (and I have to assume all 4th gen) F-bodies.

84-87 have a different taper on the shaft than 88. They are not interchangeable.

The line labeled 93-95 Camaro also applies to 88 Fiero as Raydar said. I'm not sure about 96-up Camaro, as the catalog I got this from stopped at 95. The Camaro and 88 Fiero parts are cheaper because they make more of those than the 84-87 parts.

Also note that it lists the thread as male on the Fiero part. That, of course, is incorrect.

Sorry about the picture size
