A few years back, a forum member named "California Kid" described a very nice build which involved a Chevy block with Hilborn fuel injection. He had found a supplier to make up some custom air filters for the intake stacks, photo below.

So far I have been unable to make contact with California Kid, or to track down a supplier for the type of air filters he used. I've got a similar project and it would be a big, big help if I could find some information about this.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Have you checked the full catalog from K&N? They have a lot of filters for unique applications and might have something that would work for this intake.

You also may want to look into what the VW guys are using on their stacks. They use a lot of dual Weber setups with velocity stacks and mesh filters like that.

Thanks, guys

I have looked into these possible sources, but no joy so far.

California Kid's build thread ... https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...1/HTML/025670-9.html ... has some more photos of the filters starting at his post of 07-16-2008. Also, I've got some constraints which preclude using a big, single air box for all 8 stacks (one K&N option); I need to do it in groups of 2 as California Kid did.

Thanks again.

Thought I would give this one more try ...

It looks as though California Kid has not posted on this forum in quite some time. But it occurred to me that maybe someone here has a way to contact him. If so, I'd much appreciate passing along to him my question. It would be OK to give him my email address, which I'll post here in a form that might fool at least the dumber robots scouring the web for addresses. My email address is ... "dennis" then the opposite of "black" then the digit "1" repeated three times @gmail.com

Thanks in advance for any help.

BBR Filters is in Warren, MI and makes the custom filters.
This is the guy he's talking about and the one you're looking for.
This is Cali Kid's engine bay with the filters mounted.

They will be domed bright stainless steel with molded red rubber base that fits around tube lips.
