I don't know what they are called so I couldn't search. The black framing behind the GT quarter windows is what I want to remove. I plan to remove the quarter window but if don't have to right now I prefer to wait. Do they have to come off to remove the frame behind it?

If the quarter window must come out first it does, otherwise no. Thanks for the looks link. Found another by searching the net and an image lead me to this.

Forgot to add the second part I want to remove. The gas filler ring, the release cable for the cover is holding it in but I don't know how to get the cable loose from the cover latch.

The service manual does not differentiate between notchback and fastback for this procedure so I don't think the 1/4 window filler needs to be removed to access these parts. Here are the steps from the FSM:

Here are the steps to remove the fastback 1/4 window inner filler panel just for reference:

If I was going to keep my Fiero, I was going to remove the door and fill in the rest of the assembly with fiberglass. With a nicer fuel cap, it would look good.

Thanks for the replies. That is the plan to use a pop up gas cap and move it to the back hood.
