Back to working on this thing Again. it starts, idles. just off idle picks up a intermittent "Miss". Fuel pressure at Idle 45, slowly rev it to 3000RPM, still 45 PSI. But, quick WOT and it drops to 35 , then back to 45 !! Is there a PERFECT Fuel pressure for these engines ? The vacuum line leading to the Pressure Regulator is from a stem on the "Side of the super charger" (This Is a 1997 Riviera engine, supercharger Vacuum Ports are different than my 1999 GP3800SC) WHERE is the vacuum "supposed to originate" ? the manifold UNDER the supercharger, OR the top of the Supercharger at the Throttle body ???? no fuel or smell in the Reg line or Reg. just rechecked all the "plug wires". where should the MAP Vacuum Line be coming "from" , under the SC, or At the throttle body ?? All Coils are brand new. new Air Filter. new TPS.New Injectors. HELP, before I go crazy and drop the cradle and replace the wire harness, & every sensor on this thing. all my code reader says is "Linking Error" :-(
The stem on the side should be correct for that early supercharger. There or under the snout, just not the top vacuum manifold. I'm pretty sure that the pressure shouldn't drop when you blip the throttle. What fuel pump do you have, and is the filter new?
filter was new, only 30 or so miles, could have gone bad from sitting 8 months ? pump ? I'm thinking it is a 1997 chevy truck 5.7 pump. (been a couple of years)
as of Tomorrow (WED), It will be NEW NGK plugs gapped at .045, New plug wires, 3 New Coils. New TPS, New walbro pump, New Fuel, new Filters/lines, New Injectors, & New MAF. Hopefully this nightmare will finally be over. I'll let ya know.
Fuel pressure now at 50PSI, jumps up when throttle is mashed. brand new MAF. still runs like **** ! will go for a scan within the next week or so.. the whole damn car is new except for the Icm, and I can't use it. getting very sick of this car Grrrr
END OF STORY. I suspected all along what it was but I got pointed in every direction except that. I finally took a ICM from my project Chop Top and installed it, Now it runs like New Again ! YAY :-)
To diagnose that kind of thing in the future, I highly recommend that you invest $100 in a cheap android tablet and an obdII adapter. That would have caught a problem like this quickly.
You can take modules to many car parts stores and have them test it. O'Reilly's has guaranteed modules. Whatever place you have it tested have them test the new one too.
