86 4spd car. Saw on another no start thread theres a yellow and purple wire that can be jumped to bypass the clutch safety. Poking around under the dash checking fuses i see a yellow and purple wire of decent size jumped together. Did these have a clutch safety switch? mine will start in gear. This cars been pretty well butchered electrically so i wouldnt doubt it.

The switch is up near the knuckle of the clutch pedal. They break , most people just cut the wires and wirenut them together.

Yeah, someone deleted the clutch safety switch. If you want to install one, you'll need the switch itself plus a wiring pigtail to splice into your hacked wiring.

Are clutch safety switches common? I'm in the UK and my Fiero is the only car I've ever seen one on. All the automatics I've had have only started in N or P.
