What are people doing for headlights? Has anyone done HID projectors that fit in the stock buckets and preserve the raising/lowering action?

Are LEDs generally considered better than HIDs these days? I've done a little looking, and it seems there are 5x7 projector HID units available, I assume anything that says it's an H6064 replacement will work?

You can get LED and HB2 to fit OE HL hardware and be legal in most places.
I would like to get Trucklite 27450C or other LED but very expensive.
HB2 uses 9003 55/65w bulbs... About same as Silverstar etc H6054... They eat more power but old HL wiring often has problems.
Note that if your HL bulbs are Dim then very likely have wiring problems and/or old bulbs. Any Halogen can dim when old.

You get a lot of about aftermarket HID including from vendors and people taken HID parts from other cars. Some vendors hind behind crap "check local laws" etc knowing full well next to no-one even reads that on their site and never check even local laws/rules. Many don't even bother because Fed and State laws means selling this crap is still legal or very low risk when not.

TopNotch and f85gtron did conversions. Maybe this link will be of some help to you. Sorry, but f85gtron's pictures won't show up unless you're logged in to our website, due to the hosting service he uses.

Very good writeup my dude.

If I were to buy a kit like this, which does not come with bulbs, but does come with wiring, how do I know what wattage bulbs to use? If it's not mentioned does that mean it's 55w? Or are the power supplies not generally included in kits like this?

Again... HB2 uses 9003 bulbs. 55w low 60-65w high. Higher Wattage bulbs are available but not legal and not safe for most old cars not just Fiero.
Even if you use SilverStar etc H6054 bulbs most old cars would need relays to handle extra power eaten by them.

Make a kit? Why bother?
Trucklite (27009) and others have HB2 lights and many have PnP relay kits for high watt H6054 HB2/H4 lamps. 9003 uses same 3 pin sockets as H6054.
CLICK FOR FULL SIZE

search amazon etc for head light relay kit
Quick example: https://www.amazon.com/2-He...arness/dp/B06XHSFLTZ
Like most made for front engine cars but can use this as is w/ some work... need wire to rear and fuse link at the "box" under C500.

Try these. Use Hella 100/55w, or 100/80w, bulbs. They offer many bulb choices lower on the web page. OEM size bulb housings so no mods needed.

The site shown above is for E-code (Euro) lenses. With a little searching you can find these units in the DOT-code as well. I think it was Summit that carried the DOT style. Either one a good choice for brighter lights.

DOT version lens. Buy your own H-4 bulbs of choice. Comes with HB2 bulbs.

Many "E-code" shell are DOT too. Many newer OEM and Aftermarket DOT HL label as HB2 and other codes are made w/ "E-code" light output.
Example: Kia all in one HL assm have HB2 etc markings but HL output is more like E-code w/ harder edge top limit for low beam.

But make sure E-code w/o DOT "approved" are for driving right side of road. E-code for UK roads are made for that use and many sites have both types.
Example: Trucklite LED 27490C ECE Left Hand and 27491C ECE Right Hand. They look the same until you turn them on and look at output on a wall.

Low Beam output is partly built into 9003 and other Halogen and HID bulbs. LB Output pattern is stamped into the metal shield in the bulb in pic above. Reflectors and/or lenses may change right/left side of road but can be hard to see just looking when off.

These are about the best you get in direct fit LED: http://a.co/eRjejiZ
Several people in the Jet City Fiero Club have them and they are great. Pretty pricey, but there really aren't many better options and LEDs don't often burn out.
If you look through the reviews there are pics of them on a Fiero.

I found a set of compatible led lights from this company. They had many other non compatible sets. I'm having difficulty in finding the exact model head light.

Caution: A lot of things sold thru Ebay and Amazon are fakes and/or illegal. Ever many in Amazon inventory are fakes more so when you see "sold by X, fulfilled by Amazon."

"Fakes" are common and easy because Sellers can say anything and Worse many stamp a label on generic parts made in China and cheaper sources because name/logo isn't molded into the lens. Little to No lens markings may be legal in some countries but not in US Canada and EU. If caught many vendors simply just use a different name and keep on selling same crap. If or more like when you need a warranty return many Ebay and Amazon vendors are headaches or outright gone.

Domtech Amazon link seem the have only DOT maybe SAE on some but missing other codes etc on lens.
Old Lar Ebay seller maybe US but bulbs have no marking but TOP on lens.
Both are missing Aiming "bumps."

Markings on lenses are covered in FMVSS 108 (pdf) S7. Headlighting requirements. (Canada CMVSS is very close copy of FMVSS.)
In Short, Legal light markings include Manufacturer Name or Logo, Type(s) and first Year made of that design. (DOT/SAE standards as of that Year. I say Type(s) because All in 1 units have turn park etc codes same as rear lights.)
Example TL 27450C marking on lenses...
TL logo and TOP at top
DOT SAE HL 11 at bottom
Has Aiming bumps as well.
DOT is also start of DOT data string here.
SAE is Society of Automotive Engineers standards use in FMVSS CMVSS etc.
HL is bulb type (Other legal LED are VOR here)
11 year.

But their "E-code" lights...
Unlikely. EU have similar rules... look at TL 27490C 27491C and other Name Brand EU lights for examples. (TL # looks like same photos used for both. Finding good pictures to show markings for Hella etc is hard.)
Long PDF for light inspection in BC Canada has some more EU examples and how to read them.
Full EU rules
I think HCR is ≈ DOT 2B1 bulbs (OE Fiero type) but has differences too like can have PL added and arrows too. PL is Plastic Lens (PLxx or PL xx might be # for plastic used). → and ↔ are made for UK etc and bad/illegal in US Canada and others.
