Installed new seats in my 85 SE. Thanks to this forum I found some sunfire seats in good condition. Have only had the car since October. I fixed the clutch cylinder and got it working. Upgraded the window switches and fixed/upgraded the trunk release. Couldn't be more proud of my $1000.00 hobby. I will be working on a custom console next.
Anyone want some really worn out 85 fiero seats? The speakers work but they don't have seat rails.
I put some small speakers next to the center console behind the seats for now. I have the door pillars with speaker cutouts thanks to the previous owner. I'm considering putting speakers into the headrests on the replacement seats but I'm not really a stereo guy. If I can hear the radio and my MP3's I'm happy.
I have my eye on some black and tan leather seats from a mini cooper but I wanted to get some seats in place that didn't feel like I was sitting on a bag of rags. The mini seats will take some work to adapt the rails.
They do feel about 1-2" higher. My old seats were so bad they felt like sitting in a bag of rags. I'm only 5' 9" so they are much more comfortable to me. The height change is probably more due to uncompressed foam. I could see bare steel in places on my old seats.
I didn't really take a close look how the upholstery is attached, but it looked like standard hog rings and sewing to me. I just wanted to get something useable until I could make it better. They bolted right up to the fiero rails. The seats are much more comfortable but watch your fingers when replacing the rails. The springs release the rail with a snap and you could end up with a nasty cut or broken fingers. I'm only 5'9" tall so I think I can use any seat that fits in the space as long as I can fabricate a bracket to match the bolts on the floor pan. Even at my height, my head is only about 1"-1 1/2" from the roof when the seat back is full upright. I do have plenty of room to recline however.

When you say much more comfortable...are you saying more comfortable than your old dilapidated Fiero seats, or Fiero seats in general. Because if it is the latter...that is really saying something!!!
I don't have any experience with fiero seats in good condition. Mine were terrible. Metal poking me on the sides, no support at all and the recliner on drivers side was broken. I had to put a box behind the seat to keep it out of full recline.
