I am asking for opinions on ECM programming for the particular swap I am doing. The unique aspect here is the L67 swap engine, auto trans and ECM all came from the same GTP, which was verified running well with no MIL or dtcs before dismantling. I am stripping all the subassemblies to replace all sensors, hoses, and wear items with new. The engine is being stripped to short block and rebuilt with all new sensors, gaskets and seals. I am building the wiring harness following Sinister's charts, and that phase is complete, but still at a stage where I could easily add or modify wires, jumpers, relays or switches as needed. I also have my bench set up to provide power to the ECM and do basic function tests, (mainly to verify I have C1 and C2 wired correctly and reference voltages are correct), but no capability to write. I am running Torque with an OBDLink LX for real time and freeze frame. The swap is going into an otherwise stock 88 Formula. I am removing AC from the car as part of the swap, and plan to switch to a digital cruise module. Aftermarket exhaust is being used with cat delete. I can run 2 O2 sensors, but hoping to run just 1. I can easily do a case learn if necessary, as the CKP will be new. Is any other PCM programming necessary in this scenario? I would hope this would be as close to PnP as anything...thanks.

The PCM will need reprogramming. The VATS or anti-theft feature must be switched off in the program or the engine will not start. Since you are changing the exhaust and CAI that originally were originally used with this engine slight changes to the fueling may be required. If you decide to change to a larger MAF sensor, a smaller pulley or add a performance cam then more changes will be necessary. You do not need to run 2 MAF sensors. The code for the downstream sensor can be disabled.

If two cars are close to same weight and tires total diameter then trans likely ok...
If not then trans may need programing too or other charges to properly set shifting points.
E (Like 4T__E) types can set many items in PCM but Fiero Speedo/Oddo can still lie.
Non E often needs trans shop to adjust the governor etc.

Opps, forgot about tire diameter as that will upset shift points. There is a tire size calculator in HP Tuners that makes auto adjustments to the transmission shift and torque tables. As for the speedometer,; with the tire diameters plugged into the program with the signal interface circuit presently used by engine swap guys ; that will get you close but not right on the money. You might be off a few MPH somewhere on the scale. Best to check with a GPS.
