Has anyone seen the dedicated turbo kit on E bay?
says that it is made for the Fiero V6( not universal) I was looking for HP, but have no idea how to do a universal kit...........
Price is a grand and change, comments from the knowledgeable people here would be appreciated!

Took a quick peek I don't see any kits as you describe. All need exhaust work/crossover/turbo mount fabricated and seem to have mostly cheap korean stuff provided?

But a link would help, maybe I missed the kit you speak of.

If you're running a Windows PC, use PIP to post images here. Max width - 1024 pixels. Max file size - 300 kb.

Are you referring to This kit? If so, it's hardy Fiero specific. It's listed to fit 1449 different cars!

Forum member JCircs tried the $1050 ebay turbo kit. Read about his experiences here:
https://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin...orum=1&thread=090206
https://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin...orum=2&thread=139477

Reliable speed is expensive... it'll take a bunch more than $1050 to get rolling.

These kits aren't exactly flying off the shelf. The last one they sold was in 2013.

I'm skeptical of doing a turbo without making changes to the ECM.
The 1227170 ECM used on the 86-88 V6 cars doesn't support a knock sensor, so that rules it out IMO. I think the 1985 V6 ECM does support knock sensor but the factory didn't utilize it. Don't know if either of them has any issues with a 2-bar MAP sensor that a turbo tune would require.

I don't know which ECMs are best suited to a turbo, but a turbo build should probably upgrade it to something from the early 90s that has more speed, resolution, feature support, and present-day internet tuning knowledge than either of the stock Fiero ECMs.
There was a Sunbird Turbo (4cyl) of course. No idea how suitable it would be, but I'm guessing a later ECM would be better.

Doesn't look like the kit mentions injectors - stock ones won't flow enough.

'85 ECM will work, but needs PROM needs reprogramming for 2 BAR MAP, knock sensor and fueling of course.

That turbo kit can be viewed as a key ingredient of a turbo install, but not the entire recipe. It is a big chunk though.

I am doing a turbo project, and I will be using the knock module recommended in the previous post, but with a MegaSquirt 3.

Since I am getting no where with this, how about High Performance Intake Manifold west coast Fiero's.
As to the turbo..... one of the members supposedly bought one, and I am assuming that he installed it what was the outcome!

I am familiar with the guy that installed that kit. The results were not satisfactory but f he sees this I will allow him to speak for himself.

this is his summarization

"My eBay turbo update. It's been about 10 months since I purchased the turbo kit and although it had issues it did work, and it made a difference in power but it wasn't perfect. It lacked the power it should have been producing, it had way to much lag and the turbo wasn't balanced properly and caused a minor vibration. For most normal people it would have been fine but I'm far from normal, a perfectionist with a little OCD, long story short... Every piece of the eBay kit is now in the garbage, I purchased a Precision 58mm billet Turbo and wastegate and had it installed on new improved header pipe and 3" V band stainless exhaust all custom made by AMS Autowerks here in NJ. Along with the meth kit it's now dialed up to 10psi and the boost is immediate, it feels smooth and strong and sounds even better then before. In short, you get what you pay for."

but that doesnt include all the tuning and working with the guy to get it right, also in that thread a guy said his came dented and damaged and was waiting a year for replacement.
i thought about it myself but it doesnt seem worth it, better to scavenge a junk yard i guess.

For anyone wishing to add a turbo to their 2.8L or 3.4L P/R engine Fiero be advised that you will need a re-scaled timing table in the ECM and some new power enrichment settings to get it to work properly. Its a tricky tuning process that few have perfected. It's much easier to do this on an a PCM with an OBD II program already set up for boost. Bolting on a turbo kit for more horsepower is just not the answer. The tuning is critical.

That's the approach many here took, working with OE used parts you at least have the advantage of starting with quality and durability. Without explicit details and some proof, anything goes on ebay. I take it he has a manual shift car because there's no way a stock Fiero 3 speed auto is going to hold up to that power increase, at least mine never did beyond 2nd gear.

I cobbled together a T3 from a 1983 Ford Turbocoupe on a custom crossover manifold. The engine is controlled by a 7730 ECM running code59 with a 3 bar MAP sensor. Amazing power but as Joseph experienced it trashed my TH125c quickly.

I wouldn't trust Ebay with anything. Everything I purchased for my build turned out to be junk. Fuel pressure regulators, blow off valves, etc. Buy name brand and don't cheap out like I did. You end up paying twice as much.
