Hi all, I’ve been on the hunt for an V6 88GT and have come across an owner who states he’s installed an ATK remanufactured engine and transmission a few years ago. Anyone have any experience with these ATK products? I’ve looked up reviews online and they are very mixed.

ATK is a major supplier to the market. They have a good reputation. I have hands on experience with their remanned 60° V-6 3.4 L engines.

If you're considering replacing your 2.8, go with the 3.4 instead.
More power, better oiling, same platform.

I had a bad experience with their warranty. I got a 3.4, for a decent price($1200 after core exchange, i just give them my 2.8 since they look the same) one of the head gasket leak before I started the engine. I took the head out and find a tear on the gasket. Thought its a simple warranty since they mess up. Sent in the bad gasket and ask for part reimbursement, got deny, and claiming the engine was overheated even-though they show no prove of it.
They re-manufactured thousands engine each year, im sure im just unlucky. But their warrant process just plain suck. If you do get an ATK engine, i would not recommend getting any extended warranty, since they can claim whatever they want. Also if you planning to do the work yourself, you won't get any reimbursement on your labor/time, just the part cost assuming they give you the reimbursement. (read the warranty fine prints and not take their words)

Research Jasper engines. Been a few years but when I worked at a shop, we sold many of their engines. We did have a few warranty claims but they were always quick to take care of problems.
