On my 88 v6 I can't figure out how the EGR Vacuum Regulator Valve mounts up. The service manual doesn't show that and I've looked for pictures on the forum, nothing quite shows where it is supposed to bolt up.

Here's what the manual shows:

Here's me holding it directly above this location. The red arrow points down to where I think the EGR VRV should go, however, there is nothing there to mount it to. The two vacuum lines would connect correctly in this vicinity:

Now I'm wondering if either of these mystery brackets are required. It's been 18 months since I took this apart and the lame pictures I took don't have a useful level of detail. Any help would as always be much appreciated.

I just happen to have an engine sitting around with this area exposed. The EGR solenoid is removed. Hopefully this helps.

This is a stock Formula. Bolt head is barely visible.

Thank you Fierobear! That picture is perfect! I had this labeled 'above water pump' which was too nebulous to be of any use, but after you've clued me in now it makes sense. Many thanks!

Thanks Gall. That actually clears up the mystery of where the short vacuum hose goes as well.
