Wrong connection. I think that's air to valve cover for PCV system.

It is unnecessary in summer and if you never drive in winter.
In a normal system, coolant OUT to heater core would be connection "2".
If you want to bypass Throttle Body heating, connect hose to heater core to connection "1" (remove U-shape hose)
This guy has flow direction backwards when he explains it, but it shows the connections.
