My 88 Mera with a 3800 Series III swap ran a bit warmer than I like last summer with the AC on in the 100+ temperatures and a 3 row Champion radiator. My research found that a 2 row aluminum radiator with 1" tubes will cool significantly better than a 3 row aluminum with 5/8" tubes due to better airflow. That will be easy I will just change to a 2 row radiator except nobody makes a 2 row for a Fiero. After way to much time on the computer I found Brice Thomas Radiator, a division of C G & J Heat Transfer. They built a custom radiator, all Made in USA for my car, it is a very nice part. They build radiators for big trucks and heavy equipment and use the same gauge material in their auto radiators, I like that. They charged me $600.00 to build it, about half what Griffin wanted for a custom 2 row radiator. A bit pricey but it's worth it to me to not have to worry about overheating with the AC on when it gets really hot, think global warming.

I measured and measured before having it built and was pretty close. I had to modify the upper core support a bit but it worked out OK. If I were ordering another one 2 changes would probably make it a drop in, all you would have to do is trim the rubber cradle cushions for the wider core, the same as you have to with the 3 row Champion. I will update how it cools when the weather warms up.

Disclaimer, use at your own discretion. I can not guarantee that this will be a perfect fit but here's a drawing with the updated dimensions I would order today based on the radiator I installed in my car.

Wow! nice!

Can you post who your contact was at that company? and did they keep the build details so they can just 'repeat' your design for future buyers?

The person I spoke with at Brice Thomas/US Radiator was Phil Wofford, he was very helpful, 323-826-0965.

I had to modify the upper core support a bit but it worked out OK. If I were ordering another one 2 changes would probably make it a drop in, all you would have to do is trim the rubber cradle cushions for the wider core, the same as you have to with the 3 row Champion.

The drawing reflects the 2 changes. The overall width is reduced to 24.5 inches, core size stays 20 inches, and the notch in the drivers side tank was extended 1 inch. This is what I would order if I needed another one.

That's awesome!

I had bought an AFCO radiator for my swap (was also glad to see they are made in the USA), however it still needed to be modified for a few reasons that we didn't realize until we had it in our hands (it was not designed for the Fiero).

Would you share what you paid for your radiator?

I think that would help people with engine swaps make a decision, and if enough people call them, they might add it to their catalog.

Now that I know they make custom radiators, I might send them my unit sometime in the future and ask them to make copy of it, so I have a spare ready to go!

Cost was $600.00, I think it is very reasonable as I talked with several other places that wanted $1,000.00 plus for the same size custom radiator.

That is a great price! Especially for a custom piece.
