I got done replacing the EGR tube on my 87GT and wanted to share my experience. Sure enough, the original was split exactly where everyone says they split. I found the best way to replace this is actually remove the distributor cap and rotor (I needed to replace mine anyway). I sprayed everything down with PB blaster for 5 days before starting. The nuts that connect to the EGR adapter were pretty easy to get to but the intake manifold bolts were a pain unless you have the right tool. I bought a 10mm Box End Torque Adapter Extension which worked perfectly albeit a little slow since it is not a ratchet. Installation was far more of a pain since it was practically impossible to get that bolt to go through the flange on the egr tube, through the gasket and up into the intake manifold. I had a towel down and I still ended up losing the bolt. I went to the hardware store and bought a couple M6 studs and nuts which made the job far easier. I started the nuts with a 10mm socket packed with tape to get the threads started.

BTW. I used the Rodney Dickman EGR Tube. Great quality and looks factory IMO.

I found that removing the top intake plenum made the job of replacing the EGR tube a helluva lot easier!

Rodney's replacement EGR tube is a great option. I went a different route years ago... Is there a trick to bending a Camaro EGR tube to fit the Fiero's 2.8?

I thought it would be easier to skip that step .

Once I went studs though it was not that bad. If I had to do it again it would take half the time.
