Check the caliper sliders and the brake hose.
If the sliders don't move, the outer pad will stay in contact with the rotor.
If the hose is pinched shut ( usually by rust forming in the brake hose clamp on the upper control are, the caliper will not return to the 'rest' position.

Old joe is correct on that. My 88GT had this issue after being in storage for 16 years. The front passenger caliper was sticking resulting in a brake hose failure. It’s the clamp on the UCA that, yes…can rust, causing a limited or very small brake, if any fluid passage. There is a lot of pressure when brakes are applied, so like Joe mentioned it’s restricted if the fluid can’t or doesn’t go back into the master cylinder reservoir. I might have had crap that even made the passage worse.
I replaced both front brake rubber stock hoses, and no sticking caliper / brakes after. You can feel the resistance like crazy because the brakes are applied on one side.
Naturally the rim gets really hot.
Do not drive around if your brakes are sticking.
You will glaze your disks and ruin your brake pads very quickly.

being a front wheel I would most definitely look at the flex hoses. the bracket that holds them to the control arm are famous for rusting internally and squeezing the flex hose shut, not allowing the pressure off.

If those hoses are original, I'd replace them without a thought. $40-ish from Rock Auto is cheap insurance.

Any one who can offer any help.. 86 fierro passenger rear caliper keeps blowing the rear plunger seal in the middle of the piston. I’ve replaced the caliper twice now. Any ideas?

Many rebuilt calipers can have issues. My only suggestion would be to bring it back, again.

When replacing brake hoses use SAE J1401 often sold as "pro grade" parts. see https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...HTML/129208.html#p27

Lube sliders & other brake parts right w/ Brake Grease or will fail & sooner not later.
https://web.archive.org/web...cast.net/~fierocave/ brake service.

If some fool use any other oil/grease then rubber o-rings on sliders have to be replace.

WT_ is the "plunger seal?" Do you mean Cut O-ring main seal goes on the piston? Cut O-ring seal on Park screw?
see https://web.archive.org/web...ierocave/brakes1.htm
Light Green is all "seals."

Main seal failing can be the "rebuilt" co have wrong size seal or other problems & fail when used. Likely replace under warranty but likely have same problem because often are same batch as 1st two...

I had a rear caliper lock up at speed - big BANG !
saw a flash of flame in my side-view - guess it as brake fluid igniting.
Literature suggested the interior of the old factory brake hose deteriorated- caused blockage in the hose preventing brake fluid flow back.

No warning leading up to it? Poor brake performance, noise, sticking, etc?
