I am currently halfway through my first 2002 Grand Prix 3800 NA Series II swap, for my 1986 GT, currently spent 2.8k in together car and all. Still need wiring harness and others, roughly a thousand more to get it running and driving. And of course to put an engine and trans back in.

I came across this project, another 86 GT, but complete with less mileage 1999 Grand Prix GTP 3800SC Series II. In addition to the parts included, it cranks but does not turn over. I talked with the guy and he confirmed he changed the fuel pump since there was gunk in the tank, so its likely the fuel injectors or filter. Even though I ultimately want a commuter, mpg friendly Fiero I can daily, the parts that are included in his seem to good to pass up. I'm going to see if there's any rust or other things to worry about in a few days.

I can only keep one car at a time, so should I try to sell my project as is (roller with two engines/trans all parts) and get the SC complete build, or are there too many factors at play and I should stick it through with my original Fiero. First pictures are my current state, second are the one for sale.

Before making any decision, you need to determine why it isn't running and why it set for so long......

my gut reaction is to buy it, strip the harness, heads, blower, whatever other power parts are on there, then combine everything into your favorite fiero of the two.

Buy it, drop the cradle and go through everything. The ZZP upgrades are gold. At a minimum you should be able to swap over or sell the extra goodies to get your money back

4000 seems like a too good to be true price for all those goodies. wonder if theres something more serious going on

Other than a slip of paper, did the seller offer any other proof that those goodies are actually in the engine?

Just seems hard to believe that the rest of the car looks totally ghetto, the swap itself looks fairly plain, yet the engine upgrades are high end and expensive..

Other than some papers from someone who roughly did it, everything that you can see looks to be there. I does look like a botch job however, inside and out, and the trans smelled burned. Guy said his dad would track and drag with it, and it looks like it.

I was thinking of a slightly different word, to the same effect, but yeah.

I would be inclined to let that one pass. But that's just me.

Guarantee something is wrong with that motor or trans for sitting that long. The mods are legit and good, but who knows how hard someone drove that car. Those mods are meant for someone trying to go fairly fast and drag it. And with it sitting so long, lord only knows.
