my car came with a working cd player/radio from the late 90s except for a intermitent display. i have another one that is bad. They are part numbers 09380152 and 09370222. they look identical as far as I can see.

in the interest of troubleshooting them, i got the pinout in back.

http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/GM-Wiring.pdf

but there are some unused connections… a 9 pin connector on the left, a possible ground screw in the middle, and a 6 pin connector on the right. can't find much information on these does anyone know what these are for?

I've got one of these in my left hand while I'm typing with my right. Part # 09380152 CYHM, manufactured Jan 12 2000.

The object in the middle is broken on yours. It's a locating/support pin, and is supposed to be rather pointed at the end (to aid sliding into a hole in the back of the dash/center console).

I suspect one of the "unused" ports is for a remote CD changer (storage/playback) unit.

[EDIT] I found a relevant thread here - CD Changer info needed !!

I think the extra pins in the big 20 pin connector would be external CD player or something like that, the 2nd seperate connector is for the steering wheel controls, which use a seperate module that seems to be locked down with specific sub modules and steering wheels, so nothing of use to the diyer in that connector.

I can't help with the connections. But I have the same radio in my Formula. Has the AUX jack added. Works great. The display and all lights match perfect with all the stock interior lighting. Never used the CD player though. I'm sure it works fine. Fiero Tom was redoing these for sale. Been some years though.

I was just looking over my Delco unit before I put it away for another ten years ... and I noticed it says TheftLock on the front. For anyone who needs to deal with that, This may (or may not) help.

me too... ive had the car battery disconnected for weeks at a time, and the theftlock feature never kicked in, it seems like the previous owner disabled it?? reading option C of the llinked theftlock doc. im not sure how it would stay disabled though??

Jason, BTW, that blood red interior looks awesome. are you using red bulbs for the under dash lights? is that red carpet?

I should add… the easiest radio mod is a Bluetooth FM transmitter/phone charger. plugs into cigarette lighter. all you have to do is tune into an empty station and you can hear your tunes from your iphone/android. i have this in my 2010 kia sportage.

not sure if the older ipods were bluetooth capable.

The theftlock feature wasn't on by default, that was something a customer, dealership, or whatever could turn on and most never bothered.

I've also used the late 90's deck in one of my Fieros, the other I went with the early 90's version below. This one is on ebay with an outrageous price tag (modified with Bluetooth), at least to me. Generally, the earlier deck matches the original cassette deck better I think but either is a good choice.

I agree, I prefer these as well. This is the one I bought for my Fiero, and while it doesn't have Bluetooth, it does have an AUX jack that you can install in the center console... such as if you wanted to hook up your phone or something.

Thanks! They are red LEDs. Carpet is stock grey I think it adds a little flair to the footwells.

I did this exact same thing like 20 years ago... but I took a red permanent marker, and just colored the bulbs red. I also colored the interior plastic lenses in the overhead for the two center lights as well. Most people thought it was cool, but I got some flack back in the day saying it was like a ricer. Hahah...

But I agree, I think it adds a bit of flair to the car.

I remember the 5-Series BMW also has a red light that illuminates down into the center console at all times in order to provide some light in the cabin, but not affect the driver's vision. I believe it comes from the rear-view mirror.
