First step; if the gear fell into the transmission you must fish it out of there. With its steel shaft, it will cause transmission failure. If it fell elsewhere outside it should be somewhere on the floor. You might have to drain the oil, invest in a cheap fiber optic camera and buy a pickup tool.. GM tended to use the same parts in many applications. The gear to other GM VSS senders might fit. The Fiero VSS gear is hard to find. Mike Valentine most likely has one if not a trip to the junkyard might be in order.
