Can anyone tell me how to remove the cruise control module......specifically. I already peeled the carpet back, and I see a black panel. How do I get to the module? Any help is greatly appreciated.

In my experience, john carter will not respond often or not follow up {aka 'Close the Loop'} when members attempt to help him...

EDIT - I added {and updated} this photo if he didn't see it in "87 GT auto trans cruise control by WonderBoy"

So as your question:

Is the cruise control module behind the black plastic panel?

YES, it is 'snaped' into the back of the plastic panel....

Well, I guess you ignored the word "specific" I've seen ALL the illustrations. I'm looking for someone who says "here is what you need to do"

Specifically, if you're sure that your problem is the module as most of the time CC problems are servo related:

Remove the plastic panel from the upper floor pan
Disconnect C245 from the module
'Unsnap' the module from the plastic panel

If you need more "specific" than that, I'm sorry; you need a member who can explain and guide you with a methodical step-by-step process....

Perhaps you can find a video on YouTube?

^^^ This ^^^

you need to properly troubleshoot the problem vs throwing parts at it and save some money.

Download a copy of the factory service manual and follow the step by step procedure in it for troubleshooting the cruise. It is highly unlikely a problem with the module, not saying it can't be, just very rare.

Edit: to answer your question, just simply pop out the fasteners that are holding the black panel in place - best if you buy yourself a car trim removal tool set.
