Ok my mess up. Again. I need to make sure that the radius of the curves is as precise as possible- I will be scratch building it and I did I not see that the pic was the actual shade…
Who among you has the holy grail I need today for my 85 SE? Someone, somewhere must have or have access to dimensions of the OEM sunroof sunshade. In the spirit of 'I am fabricating this myself as I have the ability and I have limited resources' for the love of all that is HOLY someone PLEASE HELP ME! Now that you wizened and all knowing types have made it this far- Please do not say buy one on Ebay or similar, it is neither an option nor an answer! Any and all other advice is appreciated, welcomed and will be passed on to the 17 year old daughter this project was started for! EDIT!!! To be clear- I need a dimensional pattern of the shade, I am going to make this from scratch as a one off. I will be more than happy to make a detailed build post with all pics and info of the build. Thanks again!

Do you need detailed meausrements...as in radius for the corners etc?
I edited my post. Thank you for reframing my question correctly. I need as precise a dimensional drawing or even a template made from the shade as possible. Depending on the actual shade and the condition of the cover material I should be able to make a cardboard template and play with it as I am replacing the interior carpets and fabrics. Thanks again..
If you can give me some time....as in possibly tomorrow or Saturday, I'll put together a printable template that you can print out of 10 sheets of paper. The only part of the shade that is straight is the rear by the handle. The rest is all gradual curves so getting a measurement is almost impossible because it changes every few inches.

In my world, this is called a "print" - the drawing which has all the information to make the part including reference points.......

Why not made a pattern / template by coping the opening?

I actually have a sunshade that is dirty and the fabric has detached itself so I don't mind tracing it, removing the fabric, measuring the board thickness, etc and converting it to multiple printable templates. I'll probably start a seperate thread on it so I can share the files with whoever wants them. People have been trying to make their own rather than buy these for years now and no one has provided a template so I guess I'll do the dirty work

What a Guy! I'd like a copy, please. I'd be willing to chip in a few bucks for your time.

Thanking you in advance! Having spent the last twenty five years in the machining trade, an actual print from the manufacturer would be something to see! Scanning an existing OEM part would allow for large format 3D printing, there are many smaller parts that are available to download and have printed. Thank you for all of the suggestions and help, greatly appreciated.

You guys really are the Fiero Whisperers Thanks for the help and I will also gladly toss a few coins of the realm to whomever..
I haven't forgotten this. I'll be doing this tomorrow and have it done by the afternoon with a link to the files. It should be 10 pieces of standard printer paper with tabs to line up the pages correctly and a measurement guide to ensure your printer does not shrink or enlarge the pages. I will try and I use the term "TRY" loosely, to make a one-piece file for a CAD printer but that will be after I create the basic files. For now, I think printing 10 pages would be simple for most people.

Ran into a major snag on my side. Both of my printers cannot do borderless 1:1 printing so I can't print test pages. Hopefully one of you can try to print pages 1 and 2, line them up, and measure the red line in my photo. If it's printed correctly, you should measure 14-1/8" top to bottom. This is a guide to ensure that the print is 1:1 before printing the rest of the pages. Here are the files in PDF: https://www.dropbox.com/scl...3sc&st=4csh2uo3&dl=0
This is what I'm talking about. These 2 pages should simply be lined up with the marks, taped together edge to edge, and the measurement on the line should be accurate.

Yeah, I figured the size would be different once it was printed vs the actual files. I was able to print these at the exact size but had to use Photoshop and move the image to the center of the print page. Then it printed perfectly. I'm still working on resizing these for everyone. PM returned by the way.
