Hello All
I am a new member, all though I have read the forum posts for many years.

I have owned my Fiero (1987 GT, stock) since new, 37 years for a car I think is pretty good.

The suspension has begun to sag/settle in the car, and I would like to refresh the suspension springs, new shocks (KYB KG4538), new struts (KYB 2354005), new front HD sway bar, rear sway bar, all new ball joints front and rear and all new control arm bushings (rubber bushing from the Fiero store) in the car. I am not really looking to lower the car or do anything radical like an air ride suspension, I just want to keep the suspension height and ride as stock as possible. However, you can't buy stock OEM springs anymore. Can people out there provide me with some assistance as to which springs will work in my car. I was hoping to buy the Eibach 3802.140-PRO-KIT performance springs (these springs lower the car by 0.8" front and back) (see the below link), but the seller TDOT Performance is telling me that these springs will only fit the base model of the Fiero (I assume they are talking about the SE). I am not sure what to do right now, so figured I would reach out to you all for an opinion on this matter, to see if anyone has had success with the forementioned Eibach Springs . My plan is to do all of the above work this winter while the car is in not being driven (I live in snowy cold Canada), so I am somewhat eager to begin buying parts.

P.S. I am not really interested in rear coil overs, I don't know why, it seems like a change from the original design, and I worry about possible funny handling characteristics as a result.

Any help in this matter will be very much appreciated.

many thanks
Todd Piche

That sounds like total BS to me. Perhaps the sales guy, who often know next to nothing, is confusing what he stated with the actual difference between '84-'87 Fieros and the '88 model.

Are you still running the original shocks/struts? If so, you'd probably find your factory springs are still fine with new shocks/struts that offer resistance on compression (as well as on the rebound) that the original shocks/struts never did.

Hi Todd I did the exact same as you are doing on my 85 GT. Yes the eibach springs will lower slightly . Mine dropped 1/2 " with them but the ride improved immensely. Two differences 1st I used polyurethane bushings and 2nd I purchased the Fiero store anti bumpsteer rear A arms. What you are doing is going to work well and your driving experience will be enhanced. The A arms are no longer available from the Fiero store. Good luck on your suspention rebuild. sleek

I agree with Patrick, and Sleek already answered the question of spring fittment.

The Eibach fits 84-87 SE or GT. I would replace the shocks first and see how it feels before replacing the springs. The KYB will make a huge difference.

Also I highly recommend ball joints from Rodney Dickman. They are made of high quality material.

Did the Eibach Springs 3yrs ago on my 86GT. It dropped the car over an inch which is what I was looking for. After install had to go back and cut about an inch off the front bump stops as it would bottom on rough bumps. The springs will cause a rougher ride then stock more like an older Corvette.
