I bet you have a manual and using my '88 manual:
The trunk release switch is HOT at all times and the ground for the relay coil comes from the parking brake switch.*Double-check that the 'CTST/LID' Fuse is good, and you have 12V at 'B' tab for the relay when you push the trunk release switch.
*If you don't have 12V at 'B' tab for the relay when you push the trunk release switch, check 12V at 'B' tab for the trunk release switch.
*If you have 12V at 'B' tab for the trunk release switch but not at 'A' tab when you push the trunk switch; the switch is bad.
I believe when you push the trunk release switch, you have 12V at 'A' tab for the relay because the 'ding' and it also means the diode is good.
So, the probable causes are the interlock ground, the relay and/or the solenoid itself.*With the parking engaged, check at C201 and C305 for ground
*If the interlock ground is good, check 12V at 'C' tab for the relay when you push the trunk release switch
*If you have 12V at 'C' tab for the relay when you push the trunk release switch, check the trunk solenoid power and/or the ground
*If the interlock ground is good and 12V at 'A' tab for the relay when you push the trunk release switch, but no 12V at 'C' tab for the relay; the relay is bad
