Finally gotten back to putting the car back together after sitting apart for almost a year, and I've forgotten where some of the parts go. Attached below is one of them. I believe it is a heatshield, but for what, I don't know. I figure it belongs somewhere underneath the car, and I looked around the alternator and starter but couldn't find a place. Any help would be great!
Thanks!

I believe that bolts to the bottom of the starter, possibly using one of the starter bolts?

Edit - Actually, it looks like a shield for the starter when mounted on the right/rear side of the engine.
Could it have come off a Camarobird 3.4?

I’ll have to double check the starter but I believe the bolts bolting the starter in are too thick for the shield. It’s not a 3.4, as much as I wish it was.

Hey I know that part! That is indeed a heat shield for the starter on the duke (maybe same for the 2.8?) I remember losing the two little screws that attach it when I had to change my starter in the parking lot at work! Good times.

EDIT: after some looking, in the Hayne's manual in the starter removal section, they call it a "catalytic converter splash shield"

My Hanes manual didn’t mention anything as far as I remember but it warrants another look as well as a sweep of the garage as I believe I’ve lost the second screw as well. Thanks for the second on it being a heat shield for the starter.

On the 2.8v6 in the Fiero, the starter is on the front side of the engine (between engine and passenger compartment, just above the catalytic converter), I don't recall seeing that shield on mine. The 3.4l engine used in the Camaro would have had the starter on the other side (where the passenger side axle comes out of a Fiero transmission) I think, I would imagine the 4 cyl would also have the starter on the front side of the engine, as the axle takes up the back side, and 4 cyl transmissions are compatible with the v6.

Way to small/orientation to do any good for a catalytic converter. It's more likely the starter, what year car/motor?

This seems close but not #16

It isn't 16, as 16 and 12 go around the EGR valve at the top of the exhaust system. I've got them in a tote somewhere, but I'm not planning on putting them back on, as I've cut and welded the EGR port and heatwrapped the exhaust. The car is a 87 2.8l.

Is it plastic? It looks a lot like the plastic piece that covers the end of the starter where it meshes with the flywheel.

EDIT: LOL Looks like it's been mentioned already.... I was on the phone when I scrolled the thread the first time and didn't read the other posts.
