I am doing a 3.4 swap on an 86 4 speed. Which throwout bearing do I need and is there any pics of one installed so I get it in the right way? I have a new flywheel and clutch for the 88 but completely forgot the throwout bearing that came with the clutch kit is wrong. I also want to know about the lower motormount(the one that is a little shock absorber by the oil filter), the mount will never bolt to the 3.4, the pattern is completely different. Do I need to make some kind of adapter or a custom motormount?

The 88s did not even have the shock mount, they did have a slightly bigger main motor mount instead, although since the shock is not weight bearing (only for controlling large drivetrain movement on launch or whatever), put poly bushings in the dogbone to make that stiffer, and you should be fine without it. On my 3400, 2 of the 3 bolt holes lined up, so i used it, but already have poly dogbone bushings.

Yup, match the throwout bearing and pressure plate to the transmission used, flywheel to the engine/application, (88 2.8)

Ok, maybe, maybe not, I don't know if there is a difference between the getrag and 4 speed clutch/pressure plate, they might be the same, some transmissions aren't (f23 5 speed uses the same flywheel/clutch disc, but different pressure plate to make up for the deeper bell housing)

I am really hoping someone that has done the swap on the 4 speed can chime in. I figure since the throwout bearing doesn't fit the clutch plate won't fit. Even searching I can not find anyone that has said what clutch they used for their swap except the getrag 5 speed.

After tons of searching and my own measurements on the old clutch and the new one I found this thread. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...020825-2-019586.html Theres about a 4mm difference between the two pressure plates so I ordered a new clutch for the 4 speed. I guess the other clutch will be in the mall soon.
