Originally Pontiac designed the Fiero with a lower roof than the one they actually produced. The 'ergonomic-nazis' within Pontiac told the design team that the original roof design would not allow the average buyer to sit in comfortably. Imagine that? So my question to you is how high from the ground to the highest roof point does your chop measure? My untrained eye says that the DRTYRAT and all the other mods you've done have their cars at 40 inches, like thee Ford GT-40. Am I correct? Incedentally, the original roof height for the Fiero was supposed to be 1.5 inches lower than what they actually produced.

The Rat has also been dropped to the ground by about 3" so she is a good 6" LOWER than the average Fiero!

Hey kevin, my choptop measurements from the rear corner window to ground is 42", 6" from the ground to the rear rocker panel with a 1 1/2" rear wheel gap with 20's
archie, on the last page you replied to me that he had a big engine in there, i knew that, i just thought maybe you were going to mod it (cough, supercharger, cough)
8 days and counting until we pick the Rat up at Archie's! We will be bringing the F355 nose so we can take some proper "completed" pics of the newest choptop (and the ONLY black one!)! I am almost as excited as Chester is to get her down here to her new home in Kentucky so we can start breaking in the motor! If all goes well, we may bring her up to the Carlisle show in May.

Yeah, if you look at the way the puddle ran accross the floor, it went from the right side to the left (in the picture) and ran under the dirty rat from the other side of the shop.
Wow.. that looks amazing. Looks like a very smooth job to me. Are the new sail/quarter windows flat? Or are they bowed/round to match the body line?
Thanks for the compliments!
The sail panels are bowed some but not as much as the originals. Archie cuts them down to fit the chop. Those are aftermarket replacements that I got some time ago.

I see you have coilovers,...I am thinking about a 2" drop on 17's for my 86 coupe, but coilovers may be too expensive for me.
Any reccomendations ? Anyone else can also chime in, Archie included.
The rides not too bad with the coilovers but you have to tweak the spring rate for your app. I've noticed that the yellow GT I had with the Ebach (SP?) lowering springs had a better ride (not as harsh on the bumps). I stayed with the coilovers for the ride height adjustment. But then again, this isn't my daily driver anymore. Also I haven't really Driven the car since I put the V8 in it. If this is for a daily driver and you don't need the adjustability, I'd say go the Ebach route.
Is it just me or does that LT-5 look brand new? Where can I get one for my car?????
Can't wait to see more on the buildup of those GT40's. Before I bought my Fiero I was looking at kit cars, and leaning heavily towards the GT40, even though I knew I wouldn't be able to afford the kits for a while. If I can do that with a frame I already have ('87 SE) that'll make it a little less expensive. What more can you tell us now?

Well the time is upon us to finally go get my car!!!
Needless to say I'm a little anxious!
We leave today about 1:00 (gotta work this morning) and head out to some friends in Michigan, then first thing tomorrow morning it’s off to Archie we go. Can't wait to get my baby back home!!!
