Spring is here yet again. Another year of spending money, and doing something different. Since I plan on making the 25th show with a "finished car" (Cross your fingers!) I'm going to push the envelope on getting my 87GT out of the garage.

Heres where we left off...
The drag radials are obviously just sitting next to the car, I need to find out if I can use them on the fiero even (The tires , rims are 5x120.7 from my 87 GTA Trans Am.). 275/50R15 BFG. I have 18"s for the rear, but they take forever to get here from japan! I hope to have them in by next week (been waiting since dec!) I would really like to be able to use the drags for a few 1/4 mile runs.

Incase you've never seen this car, its an 87GT with a 94' 4.6L Northstar

I'll be working on the interior a little bit today, hopefully at least organize things a little better and get the console / seats / wheel in.

Thats it for now, expect some more pictures a bit later.

It is a good looking piece... It'll be a little better looking once I'd modified it a little bit though.

Amida knew what I was planning on doing to it when I bought the console from him . Definately a very nice product, but its going to be a litttle better.

Project of the week;

Reinforce the frame on the sides and build new inner fenders.

Heres how thats goin! I hope to have all that patched up by the end of next weekend, including all the rust spots I find. I want to have the northstar / trans back in that bay very soon!

Trying out some 16"s that I just bought....

I think they'll suit the pontiac vibe a little better .

Like always I like to hear comments!

If you could get your buddy to haul in a driver's side door panel next time he is coming in from Brandon... i'll pay you whatever you need!

Its good to see Ian's car going into good hands... I helped with a lot of the work on that car... hahah... the good work, not the sloppy work!

Email Amida (Rob) at fierointeriors@juno.com It may take a bit, but he'll keep in contact with you and it is well worth the wait. I can't say enough about his work.

Yes, the console came from Amida, as part of his 355 Interiors. It doesn't quite fit with the factory fiero dash.. Incase that was a problem.

Thanks for the kind words Carson, I'm not actually sure as to the condition of this northstar motor, so I'm going to toss it in next week and see how she goes. If you ever want to come take a look at the car in person, by all means just shoot me a PM. I haven't
seen you in about 6 years... Wayy back when everyones fiero actually ran (Exept mine.. ! haha)

The 16"s I actually did buy for the vibe.. haha I wasn't planning on running them on the fiero. Just getting a little anxious waiting for my 18"s to come in (which are taking forever!)

Well back to work for me.

I made this piece to fill the driverside fender and welded it in place (flux core / mig / no gas ... sigh)

I'm adding a piece of angle iron along the frame rail / sheet metal to give it a little bit more strength near the top, and in case I need to mount something heavy to it.

It looks pretty good for a quick job!

Drivers Side is all welded up!!!

Time to start on the Passenger Side! This is what it looked like after a little cleaning up of the rust.

I'm hoping to be done this side by tomorrow night. If things go smoothly.

I was hoping that I could drop the northstar / trans back in the car by next weekend and hook everything up. We'll see how it goes!

Funny, my wheels stick out like that, but the difference is mine are mounted . 10x18x 275/35 . I'm doing fender flares all around.

The dash is getting swapped over to this..

I have a few plans on making it look "newage". The 18"s I'm waiting on should technically stick out past the fender lines as well by .75".

Both inner fenders are all welded up!!! Obviously I have to make them look better, but there are no more holes!

A couple random shots of the car as she sits still in slumber. Not for long!!!

I kind of just put the camera under the car and took a picture of the front suspension real quick.. haha What you're suppose to see is tubular control arms , coilovers , poly , and drop spindles. I'll have to clean that up a little bit better when I do the brakes.

Comments are very welcome!

I got all my decals in!

The horn button is 1 3/4 inch. Let me know if anyone wants one or a set of four for some wheels. I'll think about letting them go.

EDIT-

I haven't given up on my 84. I'm building this GT as a driver for now. I still plan on finishing the choptop / targa on the 84, and getting it running before parting with the 87.

Amida; The dash is out of a 78 Lemans.

Well after 4 months of waiting, my 18"s finally came in. They do stick out a little bit . I guess I'll have to do something about that.

Some other random engines I have in the garage , 1.8L turbo BPZE for my escort, and a 1.6L B6 for one of the miata's.

The rears are 18x8 with a 25mm Offset, 245/40R18's are for the rear. 225/45R17 up front.

I don't know how crazy I'm going to get on the 87's body yet. I want to see the tires mounted first. If this car gets a serious widebody, I'll do the bump steer conversion with a 4" widetrack, widen the rims 3" and run 315's. But for right now it'll look great as is. My main concentration is to get everything working 100%, finish the interior and get it safetied.

As they say.... Face down, Ass Up, thats the way we like to %$#&

Ahh those brakes are starting to annoy me!

fiero is coming along nice. liking the wheel set up!!
the reinforcement you put in on either side, is that not going to get in the way of any part of the northstar?

You need to do flares for 245s in the rear? With the right offset wheel you shouldn't have any issues fitting those under the stock body.

Thanks for the kind words! I'll be running the intake pipe through those panels, so I'll have to alter them for various things when everything gets installed. I want to keep it pretty clean though.

No, sorry curly. That steering wheel is only available in that color. It's a replacement 78-82 Corvette wheel *6 bolt*. It was actually kind of a pain matching up a hub / horn that actually fit the wheel. But luckily it was all available to me.

They are a little large for the application, however I don't want to drop too small of a turbo. I won't need any more low end, these will spool a bit later (hopefully saving my trans for another 6 months). I'm going to eventually go to a F40 transmission.

Got the new shipment in from Rodney dickman! Now that I have my new mounts, I can mount everything to the cradle permanently and hopefully get everything hooked up. I have been pissing around with my miata so far this spring. Now that she's all ready for the auto-x season, I'll be getting back to finishing the fiero! I'm excited again.. haha.
