ReMera UPDATES: Think I might change up my steering wheel...inspired by another one I saw today on ebay:

or maybe this way:

It will marry a stock Fiero GT steering wheel hub and a Formula GT Mahogany Steering Wheel - Grant (704) and then wrapping the arms in the same ebony as my dash.

I also just found a guy who does custom wood shift knobs!

http://www.cgwoodcraft.com/vintage.html

Going to have him match the steering wheel color exactly and do a custom logo on top!

Here is one he did for a Miata:

So, without the hub adapter the Grant 704 Wheel will work on a Fiero?

Take a look at the two wheels and the holes.

Marring the two together is a easy now that I see the wheel not installed...since I have taken apart a few stock hubs and steering wheels.

Here is stock wheel disasbled:

3 of the 6 factory holes line up with Grant after-market...just need to thread the others.

This is what one looks like completed:

Ok, so there are two wheels, the Grant 704 http://www.grantproducts.com/products/view/49/
and the Grant 714,(which I can't find on their website) as in the above pics and this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/095231.html

What's the difference?

I also had the thought for non tan interiors.

An individual could hand sand the wheel and then re-stain in black and then re-varnish...just an idea.

Exoticse,

This is for my personal collection and I currently have no partnership with any shop at this time.
I have two different shops that I deal with for my personal vehicles at this point.
One is a small shop here in TX and the other is ColorPro Fiberglass out of OK....excluding my personal shop (FieroCave)....where Stephen (MstangsBware) comes to assist with the engine swaps.

Speaking of that.....Mr. Poe...it is time to swap the 2.8 Turbo for the 3.4 Turbo
...hope you have your personal project wrapped up and you will be driving her to Spring Fling next weekend!

Mike from ColorPro is the only one that will be doing any of my body work or paint from here on out.
I think the ReMera speaks for the quality of work that Mike does.

ReMera UPDATES: Backup lights installed.

Each CREE LED produces approximately 500 lumens of light output at 6 watts each = a combined 3000 lumens of backup light...I think that is more than the escort backup light would have done.

ReMera UPDATES: Gutted the interior:

Still need to get a little more surface rust of the driver's side floor and then I will hit both floor boards with a good coat of black Rustoleum.

The entire interior came out with out issue and it really is in great shape.

Still need to prep gauge pod and skeleton for G1 dash, but that is for tomorrow after I finish sanding down and the black Rustoleum.

ReMera UPDATES:

Separated the foam OEM padding from the stock carpet...very slow and tedious process...but now done:

Now to clean up the rust dust with vinger and then I will put a coat of plasti-dip over the entire lover surface to lock in a rust dust.

Then I will spray the tops with 3M adhesive and attach to the bottom of the new carpet to have the factory padding feel

ReMera UPDATES: Mr. Mike sent me a photo of the Proof for my custom stitch logo of "ReMera" for my seats.

If you zoom in ...the white stuff is just cut white thread ends not imperfections.

ReMera UPDATES: Reinforced a falling apart headliner.

(reminds me of a Klingon bird of prey)

Used the following to build it back to a solid stiff and solid headliner:

  • 3" wide strips of thin cardboard
  • Medical gauze
  • 3M Supper 77 Adhesive
  • MEGA Hold hair spray
  • 8x11 sheets of printer paper

Now I just need to recover in new material...then it will be good to go!
