I second your comment regarding Stu. He has been through a lot ... more than most can withstand. Even so, he is still involved with our hobby and is the only source that exists for decent quality dew wipes. I do think that he could be a bit more diligent in regards to email replies, but he eventually replies to us and also continues to provide us with dew wipes. There are no other viable options. Stu provides a unique service that no one else offers. I continue to support him. Just wish that he would update his customers with better communications.

What are the other options you speak of? I am going to need a pair of outers soon but don't want the low quality Fiero store ones.

I see your point. What I meant by nothing viable is that Stu's product is of a high quality as compared to TFS product. Do you know of another high quality vendor that we can use as an alternative to Stu's?

That sucks that you haven’t gotten them yet.
Have you gotten any reply from him or nothing since you sent payment?

Nothing.... sent him an email and another member here texted him I think. (Not sure if it was a text/call)

Edit just to say that it's not even the wait that I care about. All I would like is just an update saying that they're coming, or sorry I've been busy, or anything.

I'm going with the Fiero Store's dew wipes. Mine are totally shot and it's unsafe for me to drive around in the morning hardly unable to see where I am going. Even if TFS's dew wipes last five years, I'll be happy.

Yeah, good idea. If people are waiting months on end for these, something is wrong. No dew wipes are good enough to wait months for. I'm ordering TFS ones tonight.

Fiero Jon sells them too. He's a great guy who runs a garage and specializes in Fiero repair. Don't know much about his wipes but that's probably where i'm going to go.

Infinite Will and I flew to Dallas and helped get Stu catch up on some of the dew wipes last January, and built him a cool new workbench to build them on, with the help of some guys from the North Texas Fiero Club. Everything also seemed great when we were all up in Frazee a few months later in July.

Then I called Stuart a few weeks after the Frazee trip, asking how his trip with Kay was. I then asked him to do me favor and check something out that I have been working on. He was kind of short on the phone, and we didn't talk to long. I asked him to please call me later that evening when he could check it out for me, as I needed a second opinion. That was the last time I spoke with him.

I did mentioned to him last month that he should at least post in this thread, because it has been 3 months since he answered any ones questions and people were wondering what was going on and getting upset. He said that he would post and let people know what was going on. I honestly do not know what's going on now.

Does that mean he needs the money from the sale to get going again? It looks like people have paid, so does that mean their money has already been spent? and are getting no response.

I just copied and pasted what he sent me, beyond that I have no idea. I sent him 30 sets worth of tabs in June, I don't know if he has used them up or not. I may have to threaten to start making these myself again. That got him going last time.

After waiting for over a month after payment was sent I called him at home as well. He was short with me too and told me not to call before 5pm (it was about 2:30pm) I’d never spoken to him personally but he did sound a bit out of it like I woke him up or he was a little under the weather. ??

Rich

Not trying to be a "Richard" but I think the time has come for somebody else to pick up the torch and run with it. Obviously Stus life has gotten to the point where he's unable to reliably make and sell these. I know life can be such that it can "get in the way" and that’s understandable and nobody is going to fault anyone if things come up that get in the way
But there's NO excuse to take peoples’ money and then drop off the face of the earth. At least let people know what's what, especially those that have sent payment. Not being able to make these is one thing , but NO communication is inexcusable. I say do it.
let the flames begin.

Edit for bad grammar and to add that I meant flames towards me for speaking my mind and not anyone else...I know how speaking up can be hazardous to you on here sometimes.

I want to try and get my hands on a set of inners/outers and guides as well, but now that I've sent him my money months ago I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he comes through.

Fyi, the so called quality of Stus Dews is not a secret.
The outer rubber material is manufactured by Fairchild Industries in Lake Zurich IL.
He buys it directly from them with a quantity purchase as a distributor.
Fairchild also supplies JCWhitney with the exact same material as a distributor.

Its not a special rubber that's' better than others.
And the material can be bought from JCWhitney in 4 foot pieces and if your handy, you could rebuild your own dew wipe.

His craftsmanship is better than others. A dependable dealer, not so much.

Every one speaks as if Stu is the victim here. He IS the cloud causing the rain.

All this discussion about the quality of the product, and what a great contributor to the hobby.......

Read back through the 28 pages of comments. They are loaded with folks looking for Dew's, and folks looking for Stu - who seems to fall off of Earth on a regular basis for months at a time.

I ordered a set last January. After ordering, paying and an initial communication that they would come soon - they didn't.

I filed a grievance with Paypal immediately, and do not regret doing it. This Board is littered with discussions of folks taking $$ and not delivering. After I placed my order and it didn't come (I waited days, not months) I read back through the previous 20 some pages of history and realized that I did not want to wait months for someone to deliver.

Stu then posted a "Woe is Me" kind of thing on here and singled me out in it. He said that I should not have filed the Paypal grievance because now my return of funds could take longer - but he would do for me whatever he could. Meanwhile, in private communication, Stu told me to pound sand and I would not get his attention or a refund until he was good and ready. To his credit, he did refund the money in only a few days. Even after returning the money, Stu wanted to continue to argue over what he meant when he said in a correspondence "Luckily, I can ship them tomorrow". His argument is that this does not mean that they would ship, but rather they would ship if I was "lucky"

If you order from Stu, I hope you get "Lucky" and get a set.

In my opinion, the quality of a set that you pay for and never receive - or wait a year for - is not worth the hassle. Save yourself the frustration and buy from another source.

I emailed Stu again tonight and received a response.

He says things have been crazy for him and he sent out a shipment 3 weeks ago via USPS and all of the wipes came back to him damaged. He's remade them and expects to ship them out Friday. I'll be keeping an eye out for them to come in the mail.

Assuming they were even shipped, I’d say the damage happened pre-shipping. Stu sent me an email on August 30th when I asked for a tracking number for mine that I paid for July 17th; “It’s been in my passenger seat forever. Just cannot hit an open post office until Sat”
I’m a structural Engineer and sent and received blueprints in UPS/FedEx tubes for years and RARELY did the tubes show up damaged. If you’ve ever used one, they will take a hell of a beating. His looked like it was in his seat with somebody LARGE sitting on it.
I’m not saying it’s not possible, but it seems that Fiero parts are subject to extreme shipping conditions as that is a common excuse heard on here over and over.

…and as I said before not trying to be a dick or start trouble but there is NO EXCUSE for not updating customers who have paid for something with information on their product. Even if he came on here and simply said everything has gone to **** at home/work and he’s sorry and will get the product out when he can, that would be better than nothing.
I wish i had an extra set or a good used set, I'd send it to you double4c

No but he did receive a photo showing the over $40 charge to send a package to his address as well as a customs number and photos of pre shipped box. Why so much? because I reinforced the crap out of the box to protect it which almost doubles the weight... What shipping was been charged? $24. Add in the shipping and insurance claims filed and worked through with USPS... Over a couple years over $700 lost through USPS Damages and losses. Add in my generosity to CoCo for his patient (So very patient and understanding wait) Introduce the loss of 2 kits of dews and 5 fiero coins down the drain.

Kick all you want, I don't really care, I don't anymore. I'll produce what I can when I can. I'll box them all one per box. If you want a set of outers then it's that price plus shipping... If you want a kit then it's the price of each and TWO SHIPPING. Why? because USPS likes to break boxes in half... Oh but I have to post pics right? Scroll through the received messages and check how they said it came in, have I ever gotten their pics? NO but I still believe them.

From now on all shipments may become UPS so I don't have to worry about post offices that close at the same time I get off work. Or driving 60 miles to Dallas to their 24hr.
Instead it'll be UPS or FedEx ESPECIALLY TO CANADA! It's always nice to see "Delivered / Customs" Then to have customs say "Never Received" Guess what? Can't file a claim!

Nov 6th or Nov 7th or some time during the entire month of November that I'm not allowed to work due to surgery, I'll bring the pictures.

I can confirm that Stu sent pictures of the shipping receipt.

Yes this whole thing took a lot longer than I thought it should have, however, I'm just happy they've been sent out and they're on the way. Excited to receive them. Thank you.

Now DLCKL where's my damage pics? and those plans tubes.. I believe I know which ones you're referring to, if you can show me that a set of dews will fit in them then please tell me where to get them. If I recall they are 2" too short and only one dew can fit due to the brackets on them.

So all in all I don't make them fast enough, everyone seems to believe they can be made cheaper, Shipping has become ridiculous on both price and damages, Everyone who's seen how I make these and how long it actually takes believes I'm giving them away, Every supplier including the one I sourced from PFF has gone up on price, Yet SOMEHOW MY PRICE HAS STAYED THE SAME! Even Fiero Store's have gone up. I know as fact their materials lack the quality, however I haven't seen their inners yet to judge. Maybe that's one piece I should discontinue although they are GM parts to begin with.

More news since bashing me is so popular. I have been in an out of Dr offices due to my left forearm and hand. I might have 25% use of it, permanent damage is known and it's getting worse. WHY? Repetitious use with a trapped set of nerves. I now type with either voice or one hand. That's what the surgery is about. What's in the future? Either I get it back about 80% use or lose it all.
Next, NTFC hasn't seen me since JANUARY, except for this past Saturday, so before anything gets blamed on them you better check your facts.
Next, how many have children under the age of 10? Bet you have a spouse too, I DON'T. I am a SINGLE FATHER! So guess what comes first?
Next, you may remember that Choptop Project car in my GARAGE... Well did you know I'm GIVING IT AWAY! Yup! It's a FREE CHOPTOP Full Poly Suspension, etc etc. FREE, Spoken for, and ready to be picked up. WHY? No time for it.

Oh, but before you go off about how I should have plenty of time... Get an 8 yr old ready for school, Go work for 11 hrs at a job that's 45 mins away for a boss that had a stay at home wife all his life, haul ass home help with homework, cook ( and I cook without a microwave, every day) get your child ready for bed, have 30 mins of free time with your child then off to bed they go (about 9:30) Wash dishes, clean whatever needs it Get ready for bed and off to bed yourself about 11ish only to do it again the next day. And that's a day that doesn't include extra curricular activities.

So there, now you know more of my life than most of my family and ACTUAL Friends know. How special do you feel?

I'll read back through this thread, my interest is peaked. DLCKL If you aren't happy with me feel free to sell me back the dews at a profit. I don't mind. Seems to me you decided to start bashing AFTER yours were in hand.

One last point. I made these for myself, I had no intention in making them for anyone else. Just had a demand in the club.. then the word spread. Should have stopped the day mcaanda announced that the fiero store had them for CHEAPER.

Hey everyone, Hercimer found the secret supplier. As a matter of fact THEY WERE the supply until they switched to the same PVC based supplier that Fiero Store uses. That shipment I sent back. Then switched to another supply that uses MADE IN USA materials. Believe me you can tell the difference in the look and touch.

Hercimer do you also know the secret behind the beard trimmer on my workbench too? There's a HUGE reason behind it. AKA SCRATCHES.

More I read the more irritated I get. May switch to ebay soon.

BTW If I make another batch, remind me to pay my tributes to real friends. I have a few. They showed up here to lend a hand. They all saw first hand what it took.
They all deserve a better thank you than they got.
