Just curious for my own sake, what kind of car did that mirror with the Temp and Compass button come in? Never seen one like that, it seems like you get one or the other or cars like the Saturn Vue got a bigger display and had both readouts on at the same time.
Late model Cadillacs, Buicks, Chrysler 300, high end Impalas and other luxury cars have auto dimming mirrors. I have one on my 2013 Chrysler 300 and I absolutely love it but on my car the temperature and compass heading is on the large LED screen on the dash not on the mirror. .

Almost all that have the auto dim have the temp and/or compass on the dash, hardly any have all 3 on the mirror like these do.

But.....used working Gentex auto dimming mirrors without those features can be had on eBay for $25. It then comes down to a matter of features vs value.

I just picked up a mirror out of a 1995 Buick Park Avenue, it is a compass/auto dimming with the switch on the bottom,( off/m/cm).
I hope you can answer a few question for me.
I have two plugs on the back, one has three wires, Pink, Black, Green. I am guessing Power, Ground and Reverse.
The other has Grey and Pink which I think are to dim the side mirrors.
Do I wire it up to power so it has 12 volts only when the car is running or does it need full time power to keep compass calibration once it's been set?
I don't plan on using the reverse feature so do I need to ground the Green wire?
