How about 300 to 350 HP from a non turbo charged SD4? The original iron duke had only 90 HP and was designed for economy. If you could double the HP with a turbo (which you can't) that would still be only 180 HP. Seems silly to make an attempt like that. The way to go is the SD4. Even if you built one with 9.5 compression, you'd still be around 200HP and you could run on Pump 93 octane. Bump up the compression and you'll need a little octane assistance but you could create an abundance of HP. I have an IMSA racecar that showed 394 RWHP on a chassis dyno. 15 to1 compression and two Webers. It doesn't get happy until around 6000 RPM. It all depends on what your goal is...and of course, everything costs money. Goin' fast ain't cheap.
The pacecar would have to be cheap. What I'm looking for is a very inconspicuous car. I don't want anything that really stands out visually. I want to have a little "sleeper". I want a solid car that has been somewhat neglected or has been sitting for a while. I want an 88 for the same reason everyone else does. I want a 4 cyl so I can just swap, plug and play. I'll still be awaiting your response OR you can purchase my engine and have a very "hot" pacecar. Just send PM along with your response to this if you don't want to disclose.

The Indy Pace Car without the decals looks like any white notchie to non-Fiero people. Most wouldn't even notice the Indy nose badge and Indy wing emblems on the car. If you wanted to sell later, just add the side decals to your SD4 Indy!!!
...and add red seats, red carpet, red mats, leather armrests, Indy steering wheel, white rims...then your there! And all that stuff (if and when you can find them) would cost about as much as starting with a good Indy in the first place...but it still isn't an Indy. But look at that motor in Fierosounds Indy...amazing! He has a great build thread on his too.

I WAS suggesting a Pace Car with all that in it. With no decals it would be visually inconspicuous on the road. And in the end if he wants to sell it, it should be worth more as a "Indy Pace Car with SD4 engine" than a "notchie with SD4 engine".
The Indy as above, still looks pretty sharp. The only more "sleeper" looking Fiero would be the 84 "bumperpad model" with luggage rack.
