Long story, but testing the waters and considering bailing on my project. Bought the car as a running daily driver, but the engine leaked bad and needed a clutch so out came the engine. Engine has been fully rebuilt and 95% of all needed parts cleaned and collected and motor is on the engine stand ready to go back in. I cannot find the unique Balancer that an 88 takes and life changes have forced me to reconsider finishing. I would prefer to sell with the motor but would consider selling the car and engine separately. Last resort is a "part out". Feel free to ask any questions. The car has no rust underneath and appears to have been well maintained through its life. I can post pictures of the engine tomorrow. I have the original wheels as well.

Here is what has been done in the past year with 0 miles or nearly 0 miles since work...

-rebuilt steering rack with Rodney's bronze bushing
-new inner and outer tie rods
-new poly swaybar endlinks
-new sunroof seal
-new inner and outer dew wipes
-new rear suspension bushings
-new brake master cylinder

Engine:
-.030 Speedpro coated hypereutectic pistons from SBC, 9.25 to 1 calculated compression
-crank and rods resized to .010
-rotating assembly balanced, flywheel resurfaced
-Crower Cams hydraulic roller regrind (can pull the cam card if needed for specs)
-Ported head (bowl cleanup, knife-edged guides, port matched runners)
-new valves, keepers, head bolts, rocker arms, roller lifters, pushrods, timing gear, timing gear cover, seals, gaskets, etc
-long block is assembled less likely pump/Balancer

I have too much money in this, but wanted to do things right with the engine. Would like to get $1500 for the car and $1200 for the engine...or $2500 for everything. Located in Richmond VA area.

Nice!
GLWS!
I was actually thinking about doing something similar, except that I was going to base it on an 87 block, so that I didn't have to use the odd 88 balancer.
I was thinking about using a cast iron SD head, but it sounds like you've done all the stuff to make your head flow properly.

And the car itself looks great! MUCH nicer than mine.

Thanks Raydar! I hate the thought of parting with it but with 4 small kiddos, it is going nowhere fast and kids are expensive....awesome but expensive!

Just so you know, Flickr images can be directly embedded within your post. When choosing image size, just don't go any wider than 1024 pixels for use in this particular forum.

Still available...and as always, feel free to make an offer. If I don't sell it here in the next couple weeks, it is off to Craigslist.

I just loaded a bunch of engine pictures to my Flickr page...instead of bogging things down, the link below is to my Flickr page.

The pictures under the car is from before all the work was done. Also, I only took pictures of the head before pulling it apart, and after it was put back on, so unfortunately can't show off the bulk of the port work.

You probably don't much care about this, but I read your post in the other thread.
The 87 block does seem to use a similar crank to the 88. I forgot all about the reluctor wheel and the crank position sensor. Rockauto shows the same castings (87 to 88) in several instances. I just learned something.

I looked at the cam specs, vs stock. It appears to be fairly mild. ~10 degrees more duration, and a few hundredths more lift.
Of course, anything would be an improvement.
Of course that doesn't take into account the compression bump, and the porting. Or the balancing, for that matter.

Bottom line... based upon your "best guestimate", how much power do you expect the engine would be capable of?
Thanks!

From everything I have read, I would say it should make a solid 125 to 130hp and shouldn't level off after 4000rpm like the stock engine. You are correct on the cam, a little more duration and lift, and was ground to still work with the stock computer.
