Question for those who have refurbished their taillights before...how far gone are these?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326190600111

Other than finding lenses, how much of the fading/delamination/etc can be restored?

I've been looking, so if I missed something someone please let me know!

The clear plastic lens has been cut away over the {Black} colored portion

This means to me that the lenses are TOAST and a total loss

You'll only get the housings and insets

There are no lenses. What you see is actually the black laminate. He has carefully chiseled all of the lens away and what you see is the black backing that usually delaminates from the lens. There is nothing to restore.

There's a set of lenses on ebay right now with a high bid of $510, could you pair these with new lenses?

I would be looking at something like that. I'm playing the long game anyway, and I know replacement lenses make a huge difference. I'm wondering if I wouldn't be best-served picking up something like the link and waiting for a reasonable set of lenses.

I guess that brings me back to my original question...assuming I wanted to play the long game, how far gone are those lenses? Would I just repaint the inside? If there's a thread I'm missing I apologize.

Start this video at 6:10 and this will explain how they're assembled. He does one HELL of a great explanation. As far as those used ones you posted, you can polish the plastic colored light diffusers and spray the inside of the housing a new silver color. You will be discarding everything that is black in that ebay ad even the Pontiac section. All of that is normally 1 piece with the lens. Watch the video and note what he says about the laminate and lens.

Yeah, those are done. I don't even know why he's selling them or what he thinks he's going to get out of them.

The price of tailights are crazy. I remember 10 years ago there were 2-3 Fieros in the junkyard every time I'd go, and all the taillights were generally pretty good. Even TTOP Fieros... now this stuff is like gold.

It's crazy, man. I'm almost certainly going to end up with the 'vette style even though I very much love the original GT taillights. Finding a set is bananas.
