It happened a few times in the past week: a section (like The Mall, or General Fiero Chat) is either very slow or not accessible at all. This is not normal operation. If this happens, please send me an email right away. If I'm near a computer I can usually solve the problem within an hour.

The problem occurs when one of the datafiles for that particular forum is corrupted. I don't know how this file gets corrupted but I do know how to solve it when it happens.

So again, if it happens, please email asap.

In the mean time I'll debug the code and see if I can find what is causing the corruption.

I'm just wondering what was with the message "Flood gate control" has been activated and you can't post within 30 seconds of your last post. What gives, our almighty and powerfull Fiero God?

If you post another message within 30 seconds of your last post, then the forum's "Flood Protection" kicks in. This is to prevent what happened a few weeks ago when one of our members thought it would be funny to flood The Mall section with dozens of bogus "for-sale" threads.

I couldn't get into the mall yesterday... this must be why. I figured it was my lousy dial up connection! Thanks for the update!

Thank you Cliff for responding and providing me with an explanation. That only makes sense for the sake of the forum.

Now...is there anything you can do about this limit of 8 smilies within a post? I'm a jolly old fella...what can I say?

Today around 10:00 AM.. I could not get into PFF at ALL.

I clicked on my bookmark, which brings me to the topics page, and it said,"site contacted... waiting for reply", but never would load.

Tried several times in the course of a half hour....
