WARNING! It has come to my attention that somebody is/has been sending around an email-worm (virus) to some members of this forum using my email address. Please be aware that I never send members emails, unless it's in response to an email sent to me (and most of the time I don't even have time to answers those ).
If you receive such an email, please forward them to me. I have a pretty good idea who it is and fortunately, knowingly spreading viri is still a federal offence.
Wasn't me. But I have been getting one lately from a "Bo Bailey" with "EQUIPLIST" as the subject, not to mention several other sources for awhile now. The one from Bo Bailey has a document attached that has the sircam virus.
I don't get them at home though and I know of only one individual here on the forum that had corresponded with me here at my work email only but never at my home email. Wonder if they are related.
Anyways, too bad I have Norton AntiVirus which catches the little goobers before they can effect me.
Thanks for the heads up Cliff! I am guessing the suspect has proven to the forum many times to lack class, ann now it sounds like this person is proving a lack of brains too.
funny you mention that, several weeks ago i upgraded my hardrive and installed win 2000 server. within 4 days after getting my dsl modem up and running, i was hit with calls and emails from my isp about broadcasting nimda virus.
man what a blasted mess! it took me over a week to get that thing cleaned up. now i'm running zonealarm pro.

I have not got any worms but, I am sick of spam from fake yahoo members. I forward them to yahoo and they say the accounts don't exist. I have been using that spam cop thing but I don't know if it is working. I don't understand how they can use someone elses address? There must be a way to trace there IP. I hope you catch and prosecute them cliff.
Ok, I have identified the virus that is being sent around. It's Worm KLEG.G (click for more info).
The worm simply picks a random email address out of your address book and uses that as the sender's email address. This means that nobody is using my email address on purpose, it was simply chosen at random by the email worm.

Whomever contact@dcmotorsports just tried to send it to me My firewall caught it so I'm okay just wanted to try to let someone know they may want to check their computer.

Shouldn't affect web-based email, right? I have always used yahoo mail, and I'm sure that I've gotten virii, but since I am only opening a page to view and not actually downloading a message to my machine, I seem to avoid some of these things.
there have been several emails sent with my address on it as well, but they're from someone I've never dealt with before, so I don't know how or why my email address would have been in their address book...
