Oh man what a AWESOME day! Went for a quick ride this am then came home for gas and lunch. Then the neighbor drove off to go buy a sled.

600cc of 2 cylinder 2 stroke power. This thing will go and go. It literally is a crotch rocket on snow. The neighbor picked up a 95 Yamaha mxz 600 and we spent the afternoon screaming around the woods and trails.

When you stand up and look over the front hood you can see the ski's floating across the snow and it's like your gliding across a sea of whiteness. We were out after dark and man is it a truly a moving experience. Your literally floating across the surface. Carving, drifting and gliding. And the BA 2 stroke sound and power is the bonus!

What a rush. Definitely "Bucket List" worthy, and I highly recommend it! Anyone wanna go for a ride? Come on over!

Man what to do? Dust off the Fiero's? Ride the Skidoo?

I just topped the Skidoo off and I need to do some more "testing" and running good 91 octane fuel through the motor and carbs.

Meh I know what I'm going to do! See you later! Have a great day!!

TY Steve. We had a blast today! When your out there, leaning on the edge, drifting through a deep long turn, the back end sliding around and the snow powder splashes up off the ski and hits you in the face. All the trivial things in life that we deal with from day to day just disappear. There is such a clarity of mind that one can't easily experience.

BTW Steve, ever heard of Jugtown? Could we hit your local trails then load up and trailer our ATV's to Jugtown? Here is a youtube video showing it. I wish I knew how to post it so it showed up as the video and not a link. It's privately owned by Hancock Lumber. 5000 acres!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QipQUDhjaiY

We definitely want to hit these trails up as well as your local Whistle Stop trail on our planned ATV trip! Here is a link showing some info on Jugtown. BA!!

Dam dude, just how long to you plan on camping out? this sounds like at least a few week trip for you guys?

Sounds great I don't see why not if that's where you want to go, as long as you pay for gas, hey, what can I say I'm broke most of the month but I have no problem going there. Looks like a great place to wheel, just be careful no matter where you are, especially on camping on the sides of the trails, most of the land is privately owned. State did take over so many feet on each side of the trail system in 04 or 05 if memory serves me so you are safe as long as you stay trailside just about anywhere but it was only like 18' from the center of the trail, I think, I know they had to get the OK from all the land owners when they did it and we got notified of it, up there in that place I don't know if they allow camping but like I said you are welcome to camp on our place when you come up. Aha I found it,

5.No firewood collecting is permitted in the Jugtown Forest. No fires shall be kindled for any reason. Overnight camping is prohibited.

So you are not allowed to camp there, that sucks it looks like a great place to do that. and you will have to watch you dates as well, only allowed there from, May 15 - December 15 and I am sure they could change that if we have a long mud season. maybe call them to make sure they are open before you go.

Enjoy your sled time while it lasts and give me a call sometime before you plan your trip so we know you are coming and we can have a BBQ if weather permits, or if not at least a home cooked meal with farm fresh food, that we got plenty of, enough to feed a small army. You ain't vegetablearians are you?

Just Googled the trip, that only about 60 miles from my place, that ain't bad, I thought it was a lot further.

Steve

Well here is our tentative plan. We plan on trailering our ATV's to the foot of the Whistle Stop Trail on our closest end. The WST is about 14 miles long. We could probably knock that out easily in a day. Then maybe throw up a hasty camp near you for the night and chill. Wake up the next morning and finish the trail into Farmington then double back to your place. Then perhaps hitch a ride back to our truck and trailer. Then drive our truck and trailer back to your place, pick up our ATV's and gear and trailer it all to the next trail, Jugtown. This should take maybe 2 days. 3 if we take a liking to each other and your beverage vending machine!

Then near Jugtown I have other friends that have invited us for a visit.

Then out in Bridgeton we have also been invited to camp and ride.

Seems people in Maine are very receptive to supporting my son and I pulling an epic journey of a lifetime off!! We are planning for between 1-2 weeks of EPIC fun!! This is a chance of a lifetime and I would be deeply remiss if we did not even pursue it to some degree!!

After were done playing snowmobile zoomie zoomie, we are going to get serious about our trip. Caleb has goals that we have agreed on regarding school grades as a prerequisite to this trip. If he can meet them, which I am positive he will, we will be a green light go on (we need a good title for our adventure) our ATV trip.

So try and come up with a good trip title if you get a few minutes to think of anything. I was thinking something like, The Most Epic ATV Trip Ever, or EpicATV14.

p.s. I would never expect anyone to cart us around without buying them "Dinner and a movie"!

WOOOO-WHOOO!!

I didn't want to say anything before hand and curse myself so surprise, surprise! Look what we just got back from picking up in N. Maine!!

What better place to keep it then in the kitchen?

91 GSX-R 750!

This is my second Gixer. The first was an 88 Gixer slingshot 750. That was twenty years ago in, ironically 1991. Weird.

Anyway its starts and runs like a dream. I even ran down the road and back real carefully. PO had it dealer serviced at the end of last summer.

Now I am torn... It just started snowing here and were supposed to get 6-10 inches more of snow. We have the Skidoo snowmobile and it is really AWESOME. But I kinda wish it would all disappear tomorrow!

Did I say WOOO-WHOOO yet?!

Woo-Whooo!

6 hours of Maine State ITS trails and my legs are on fire and my arms are spaghetti! Awesomeness! There was quite a few people out today with the 45* plus temps! Even some hottie chicks! Who knew?! We saw a couple of sets of chicks riding double all by themselves.

There were other people too. Lol. We went up to the top of Mount Ossipee down to Ossipee Lake and all over. Blast!

See if my googlemaps link works...
https://goo.gl/maps/mJS89

Edit... Above link does work, just click and zoom in and you can see the fire watch tower and cell towers.

Anyway pics...
Unloading.

Spotted this sweet ride on a lake. Some people were out ice fishing.

Lakeside Variety. Ossipee Lake in IDK where, Maine lol.

I'm taking a pic of that sign on the left, I swear.

Ossipee Mountain view of Ossipee Lake. BA! From the fire watch tower. You can see for miles and miles in all directions.

And looking from the lake up the mountain. The fire watch tower is off in the distance at the top

The locals.

Arms spaghetti!

Headed to Bunganut Pond today. The sleds are on their way already. The other riders have a quick side job out there then we will ride when they are done. One more day off for me then it's back to turning wire nuts for the man in the white hard hat for another week. I'm going to get it while the gettings good! So in a couple of hours I will head out to meet up with them. One of the other riders wants me to try and talk his better half OUT of going... Sheesh guy, talk about doing your dirty work.

Try this link, see if it works. Bunganut Pond in Waterboro, Maine. Connects to the same ITS trails we were mashing around on yesterday.
https://www.google.com/maps...,3744m/data=!3m1!1e3

Predicted high of 43*F today and should be more peeps out riding. IDK if my old tired feeble burned out legs and spaghetti arms will hold up but I will be damned if I don't give it hell anyway!

Country Girls Gap. Ok that's not what it's really called but that got your attention right?

IDK how long ago but I am guessing at least 100yrs, the railroad came through and blasted a gap through this giant granite rock and made a path. The railroad is long gone but the trail still remains. Pretty cool spot and a great place to take a quick break.

Mousam River crossing. Snowmobiles only. Pretty cool suspension bridge that connects miles and miles of great riding. Too bad ATV's aren't allowed..

Obligatory arse kissing pic for my employer. Let me just say how wonderful they are and how we are all treated with such respect and dignity. We are well compensated for our time and knowledge. And I would never imagine myself working for a greater employer. Don't get me started on the great Bennie's. I mean come on, look at the awesome vest I got...

GRRRR!! Talk about Dreaded PO syndrome!

At what point do you suppose some D-bag said to himself, "Eff it, run it like that. Maybe they won't notice.

That is a brand new Conti tire installed backwards on the front of a GSXR 750. That sits, on a nice day, in my kitchen because there are no shops open right now that will flip it around. Dreaded PO installed new tires before I bought it. Now the front is getting eaten bad and riding is a constant fight for handling. I can't ride it like this except to a shop that will fix it! Hey at least they got the back tire right!

GRRR!! And the sun is coming out here. Guess we could go fire up the ATV's. Mud season is upon us!

Not really, everything mounts on one side of the rim, the rotors are on one side, the chain and all that are all mounted differently on each side, at least they were on all my bikes.

he may be able to change the tire yourself, a tire spoon and a lot of sweat and some blood, be careful. I have done it to a car tire and tractor tires it is possible, not easy but I did it when I had a back. so you may be able to do it yourself. google YouTube videos on changing a bike tire by hand.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqiSV4WZb-c

A better one using just a 5 gallon bucket and 2 tire spoons.

I asked because looking at the last couple of pictures it looks like it has rotors on both sides of the wheel. Seems like he could pull the wheel and swap rotors and be back on the road without having to wait for a garage.
But I haven't worked on any bikes except for some small electrical repairs and I don't know.
Just wondering if thats an options.

Yeah at first I thought I could just spin the rim and all. Nope, cause the speedo cable is on the left side. Also a spacer. So that won't work.

Well that sucks.
I hate that they make parts like that.
Perhaps they should start marking the direction on the rim. Like marking your arms and legs when you go into surgery (don't cut here)

Oh well. Guess I will leave this one to the "pros". Let a shop fix it for me. I don't want to gouge the rim all to hell. At the moment I don't have the funds to buy the right tire irons. And I know my luck I might get it half way off then....

So I suppose I will have to try and sneak out of work early one day this week. Take the bike to a shop. One where I can wait while the fix it. I don't want to leave my bike ANYWHERE! Need to find a shop that can do this.

However I will at some point be needing the right tire irons to do the job of removing tires correctly. I will be PC'ing rims at some point and will need them anyway. I should look into a set of those.

Update time. Lots to cover so bear with me...

So I took the Gixxer to Reynolds Motorsports and a few of the mechanics came out to look the bike over. Turns out the front tire is on correct after all. The uneven wear is due to the crown in the roads around here they all agree. Seems Maine roads typically have a hella crown. They suggested that more highway riding would even it out some. So I did just that yesterday!

Momma and I took a quick car ride to a local shop called Motorhead Trading Post in Sanford, Me. BA shop with new and used bikes, ATV's, sleds, gear etc. I went looking for a decent jacket for the Gixxer. Ended up with a BA Icon Timax textile jacket and AFX Lightforce helmet. Please forgive my disheveled appearance, we are just getting up and having coffee in this pic. Man I need to shave that winter beard.

Paid $125 for the jacket and $50 for the helmet. I haggled a package deal price. Well when I got home I was modeling the jacket on my 14yr old son and as he was wearing it I checked the pockets and guess what?! Found $25 and PO's registration and insurance. Guy had an 04 Kawi 1000. Lol. Score. Instant savings! Actually found the PO on FB and his profile pic shows him wearing the jacket! LMAO!!

Also scored a sick azz pair of Arlen Ness Carbon gauntlet gloves on Ebay. $25 starting bid. I was the only bidder and won them at $25! Spoke with the seller via Ebay messaging and he paid $140 for them when he was stationed in Korea. BA and comfy as hell. Plus the added CF ball at the outer heal of your palm is great in emergencies. Pavement sliders...

And in ATV news, I am pretty sure we have toasted my Suzuki quadsport. We took the quads out Friday afternoon and she died. We ended up towing it home with Calebs quad. I got it into the Pallet Shack and pulled the plug. Pulling the kick starter and there doesn't seem to be any compression.... Sigh. Guess we have some work to do now. And mud season is here.

In snowmobile news, parked it and gonna cover it. Till next season. I gotta replace one of the bogeys and do some routine maintenance but she served us well and ran like a beast! I, for the life of me, can't figure out why anyone would need a snowmobile that will do 130mph. On ice and snow. That much speed on that surface is just plain scary. Snowmobiling half the time is a controlled slide. I mean you are literally sliding around after all. Why someone would want to slide at 130mph is beyond me. LOL. Crazy fast on an unpredictable surface. Fun though!

So we have lots of work to do. Lots of fun to have. And lots of potential for an EPIC year of motors, mud and speed!

WOOO-WHOOO!

What a blast to ride! BEST $1200 I have spent in 20 years, easy.

PO put her down. Not too bad. Bugs me but oh well. Still a beautiful machine!

She was starting to run a little funny. Only when I was cruising through traffic though. If I was hammering it ran fine. So I was thinking it was a fuel issue. I knew the fuel vacuum line was drying out and starting to crack so...

Runs mint again now. For now. Look how bad that vac line is getting!

Man what a blast to ride! Smoked a guy in a Shelby Mustang. Smoked a guy in a Porsche. Gotta be careful! But man what a rush. Sometimes I wonder how it could even be street legal.

Lots of updates coming as we have finally gotten around to getting into the Pallet Shack again. Spring and summer should see lots of fun! Got Calebs ATV back running, albeit a little rough. He had a quick loop in the pit. Probably needs a carb cleaning is all. My ATV is for sale. Spend the $$$ on the new dirtbike!

BTW. Our son Caleb has his very first jobs orientation coming this week. He has his work permit! TY for their permission BTW. Pfft... Anyway he starts this weekend and he is excited! So am I.

Scored a sweet Wingman HD 1080p action cam at Cabela's. A friend of mine stopped by yesterday and I mentioned I was looking for a Go Pro. He said they had this Wingman HD in the bargain cave at Cabela's. So I mashed over there and grabbed it. It was drastically marked down due to the fact that Cabela's in discontinuing them and going exclusively with Go Pro. I paid $134 and originally listed at $249. What a deal!

So I test fitted it on my dirt bike helmet and plan to do some testing today!

Also I plan to see how this works on my Gixxer! Maybe take a spin downtown here at the beach and catch a few bikini clad hotties! Should be fun and educational!

Woo-who!!

91 Honda XR100R we just scored!

My son Caleb is graduating to a clutch and two wheels! He is doing great on the few practice runs we did out back today! He still has work to do in remembering to use the clutch. A few more trips into the sticker bushes out back should do nicely though!

I am very, very proud of him! He did a great job on his first try with a clutch!! Way to go Caleb!!

So we are looking at a Labor Day weekend run around the great State of Maine and some sweet riding! No crying bosses, no crying general contractors and NO crying babies! For at least a few days! Caleb and I deserve a break! He has been working hard and helping out way beyond expectations!

Were going to Jug Town for sure! IIRC 900 square miles of lumber company logging land! This is going to be one of those trips we talk about for the rest of our lives! Hopefully. Either way it should be a BLAST!!

We just need to get serious about gathering out supplies! More to come as time permits! Here we come open trails!!

YES!!

Man oh man what a EPIC journey!! Everything went perfect! I can't believe we pulled it off.

Heres a vid. Skip to 6:30 if your in a hurry. Otherwise sit back and enjoy the ride!

Caleb did AWESOME! At first he was VERY frustrated. However by the third day he was, helmet on, bike running, "Lets go Dad!". He did great and I am very, VERY proud of him!!

Also we did some kayak and fishing. Man what a great time! I shot some images from the kayak but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. Beautiful!!

Oh and BTW... I found a sweet pick. Well a come up, a score, a deal of the century if you will. I know what some of you are going to say but I paid $300.00 for the total package! It was in the water last year. Runs great, trolling motor, fish finder, duel fuel tanks, etc, etc,...

83 Grumman 4.6 aluminum striper with 45 horse Mercury Classic Fifty OB and trailer et al. $300! Motor alone is worth that!

What a BA trip!!

Nice the fishing vessel, "Chilling the most" starts and runs mint! We drained all the old fuel into one tank and added fresh mix to the other. Added a new deep cycle marine battery and she fires right up and purrs!! Electric trolling motor also works great!

Gonna try and hook up the other electronics today, fishfinder, bilge pump, nav lights, etc.

Then register and maiden voyage of the FV Chillin the Most!!

Wow! All accessories work! Bilge pump, fish finder, nav and anchor lites. I just need to find a drain plug for inside the live well. Maybe its on the boat somewhere hiding. Everything else is there. Well aside from life vests, registration, fishing poles and beer!

Really great condition boat for sale BTW!

Sold the boat. My son Caleb and I were sad to see it go but we didn't even have a way to haul it. Ironically now we do. I dumped around $200 into the boat and sold it for $1200! The buyer was more then happy to take it off our hands at that price. So we made a nice profit and spent the extra cake on a decent toy hauler.

Boat sold, toy hauler acquired!

It's a 95 econo with 48K and seats up to 7. Fold down last row. Interior is very nice. Four captains chairs and yada yada yada. Most importantly we can haul our dirt bikes or sleds now!!

That's Downeast dickering right there bub!

So the toy hauler has a name now. Mind you it's not a family friendly name but take it for what you will. So it's "Bang Bus"!

Ok now that were past that, the Bang Bus is P.I.M.P. I had to replace one brake line so far. What is it with that gravel guard spring looking wrap they put on metal brake lines? That crap catches and holds all kinds of dirt, debris and moisture. Leading to brake line failure. The rest of the line that doesn't have this gravel guard looks pretty much shiny and new. What gives with that? Scam...

Slight rant over.

So I am starting to look at a flat screen TV and inverter for a PS2 or 3. I want to run a DC portable TV and an inverter for just the PS2 or 3. This way we can "entertain" during those over night camping, dirt biking or snowmobiling trips and long road trips.

Here is a TV I am looking at. It comes with a cig lighter DC plug adapter.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331...e=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

And here is a sample inverter for the PlayStation.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wag...&hash=item3cea6602a2

So it seems that different PlayStation consoles use widely varying amounts of power. A PS2 uses very little but a PS3 needs 3 times as much. At peak as far as my research is showing I would need 500watts of constant power. Just for the PlayStation 3.

So I need to look into what cable gauge to run for the inverter and my alt's amperage. I am open to suggestions regarding installing this setup.

Edit... Dang typo.

Before you buy one let me look in the garage tomorrow at one I got up there that we found when I was helping my buddy clean out a shed for some people he worked for, I can't remember what the wattage was but I thought it looked a lot like that one. if its big enough you can have it I have no use for it.

That would be sweet Steve. I'd do some Downeast Dickering with you! Trade you a slice of Blue Widow from my local dispensary? Cool stuff that will push your sniffles away!

Now all I got to do is find that dam thing in my shop, and the wife is headed to her moms in Taxachusettes in the next week or so. I'll look in the morning and see if I can find it, the wife has practically taken over my shop with a bunch of clocks from a little dickering she did and they are all aver the place, I need to get on her case about getting them out of there before the snow fly's in case I got to fix something.

Let me get back to you tomorrow, its already below 30 now and I ain't going outside tonight except to walk dogs.

Oh well I found them, 2 of them but they are both under 200 watts so you will have to buy one I guess, sorry about that chief. Hey its been months since I even looked at those things, I thought they were bigger than that.

No worries Steve. TY for taking the time and your offer! The mobile PS3 studio is still in the pipes anyway so to speak. Still a pipe dream...

In other news she started right up first pull. Just primed the carbs a few times. Checked the kill switch. And pulled. Smoked like a BASTID at first. By the time I got my camera out it had mostly cleared up though. She needs a couple of bogeys but other then that were praying for SNOW!! Man I absolutely love that famous 2 stroke smell and sound. The 2 cylinder 2 stroke motor just begs for more throttle and sounds, responds and feels BA. I can't wait to ride it now!
