That way if you get a deal someone wants to trade you something for you have wiggle room, and put that in the add, fair is fair trades for certain numbers of the sheets. if they want all of what you offer fine, as long as you like the deal. hey you can always be the one to back out.

Benelli's are nice guns, Melanie's dad had one we got after he died, beautiful peace of craftsmanship and no cheap Saturday night special by a long shot. to bad, we sold that one, but we did keep his semi auto 12 gauge for sentimental reasons, it was the first gun Melanie ever shot, nice scroll work on the receiver as well. Gave her one hell of a bruised shoulder and her dad caught hell from her mom for that. She was just a kid, I forget how old she said she was, but said it almost knocked he down, it has a fiberglass barrel with a steel liner, nice and light.

Redo the add and repost it, you never know you might get lucky again.

Steve

When and if? Lol, I am locked in on this PC oven so I will go with, "when".

Yeah I agree, too bad about the Benelli. Such is life though. I need to remember that I got all this metal for free and maybe lower my expectations. IDK.

Fixed my ad...

4'x10'=40sf X 25=1,000sf, unless of course there is some new kind of math I am not familiar with that engineers use to figure out square footage?

even I can figure that one out and I ain't no engineer

I think it is Marvin's meds that are making him, how did you put it?

a little wonky.

He is old and maybe he was just mistaken and thinking you said 50 sheets, or maybe we are both wrong and he is right, new math and all that.

There is indeed only 1000 square feet of material (25x4x10), but your question was in the context of powder coating. There are two surfaces to every sheet, which yields 2000 square feet of surface area (25x4x10x2).

Any engineer worth his salt knows that every sheet has two surfaces, and that you have to paint, powder coat, plate, or passivate both surfaces if you want to protect the sheet from rust and corrosion.

That's not what he asked though now is it? He didn't ask how many square ft he needed to paint, or at least he didn't say that now did he. He may have been asking for other reasons, like how many square feet he has for his ovens he wants to build. if he wanted to know how many square ft of coverage area he has to paint I would think he would have asked it that way or said he wants to paint both sides. but that is just my thinking of the question.

lets let him tell us who is right.

Well to tell you the truth. My question was meant in terms of how much area one could cover. Say if you were to do a roof with it. Of course one would have to subtract for take up on the reinforcing folds. Which I don't know the amount to. I suppose there are variables you could play with. Different support bend spacing, different bends, etc. So that in the answer I could give a potential trader/buyer an estimate to how much area they could cover.

The material is already treated for corrosion resistance. It is what is referred to as hot coated. And zinced. I am not treating it in anyway except to store it.

Anyway new ad has one replier thus far. And I quote, "Do you still have the material?" I replied with, Yes, what do you have to offer? No response yet. Ah the joys of CL. And fishing...here fishy, fishy

if the materials actual measurement is 4' wide you really don't have to take the ridges area into account when doing roofing, except for the overlap from sheet to sheet.

As far as Craig's list goes I hate the lookers who just want some info and never send another email after that, almost as much as the ones who just send you links to spam. I ask for a phone number in my adds or post our home phone number for them to reply to, we have caller ID and Direct TV, the number comes up on the TV when they call so we not only have their number in the phone caller ID but the TV as well, so even if we delete it in the phone it is still in the TV.

If its a non number blocked number, we don't even bother getting up to answer the phone, let the machine get it and we can hear them, or not if its just BS if we don't want to.

Well update time!

I have bumped my CL ad for this and gotten a few more bites. Couple of good ones, couple of guys showing up to look. Still have all the sheets.

A guy showed up today with 3 shot guns and 2 308 hand guns. He was willing to trade 1 308 for 4 sheets. The shotties were not what I am looking for. He had a double barrel, a pump and a 10 gauge. And the 2 308 pistols, both same manufacturer, one chrome, one black. I looked them over and agreed to 4 sheets for the black 308 pistol. Then we went and looked at the metal. That is when he said, "Oh it's thicker then I thought. Let me see if I can find a metal brake I can borrow to do my bends and get back to you." He was a very nice gentleman and a fellow Veteran. We shook hands and agreed to get back in touch if we felt a deal was doable. Seemed like a nice enough fellow and drove 45 mins here to look it over. Not your typical drive by tire kicker.

Another guy showed up asking if I wanted to trade a Yerf Dog go kart for an undecided amount of sheets. Lol he didn't even have the kart with him. Hard core tire kicker. I gave him the cold shoulder and quickly sent him on his way.

Lastly I have had 2 phone conversations with an older gentleman that restores motorcycles. He is offering a 1977 Yamaha IT250. All stock and original condition. Everything works and runs, shifts, stops great. He is going to email me some pics as soon as his wife finishes their taxes on their computer. He says she will be done on Tuesday. LMAO! Those must be some serous taxes to take 3 days to complete! Anyway I am digging this offer. I found a few pics on the web. Click link for pics of what the bike might look like.

Oh and I had an email asking if I would trade for precious gems. Depends on the gems I replied. Haven't heard back yet.

Guess I need to just keep fishing!

Welp the deal is done on the 25 sheets I listed on CL.

Just traded 25 sheets of what I have for a 1977 Yamaha IT250.

Runs minty as far as we can tell so far. We need to obviously gas it up and "test" it some more though to be sure.

And I still have around 10 sheets left. And I got the metal for FREE! And they were just going to throw it all in the dumpster!

nice want to sell it, I couldn't buy it, the wife would kill me, not to mention I would probably kill myself on it anyway, it has to be at least 25 years since I have been on a bike, longer on a dirt bike. They just closed our trail down, the sign says May 15th but that may change so I will keep you informed on that. right now its no motorized vehicles at all, you can walk it, ride a bicycle, but nothing with a motor.

Nice deal on the bike for something that cost you nothing but some gas and sweet equity to get it home, I love it when that's all things cost. we still have snow in our pastures so the may change that date of the trail openings around here anyway. I will keep you informed if they change that date. enjoy the new toy, make sure its safe for the kid if he is going to ride it, brakes and rims and things.

As they say in Maine, "Wicked fast ayuh!"

TY Steve. Plans are developing daily around here. I got your number on my cell and will hit you up as we get closer. Looks like I might be riding a bike instead of a ATV now. Also my son scored his first job ever. Fun Town Splashtown water park this year. Babes, bikini's and a paycheck. Were real proud of the kid. I suppose I should update my "New toy" thread one of these days. Anyway we might have to work around his work schedule! Just me being able to say that is EPIC!! "Work around my sons work schedule"

Boy are we Effin busy or what?

nothing against riding dirt bikes, I loved that when I did it myself, back in the late 60s early 70s. but for what you have planed as far as camping while doing your trip I think you would be much better off with the 4 wheeler than a dirt bike simply for the cargo capacity being larger and more stable than the bike, just a suggestion.

now the boy getting the job at splashdown did that myself as a teen, lifeguard at one of the local lakes in Shrewsbury, best memories of any job I had as a kid, sit in a chair and watch the girls in those tiny bathing suits, and they gave me a pair of binoculars even better for girl watching your kid is going to have the time of his life with that job. No matter what it is, just being around the water with all those cute girls in tiny bathing suits is like giving candy to a sugar junkie. I know he is going to enjoy that job even if he is just passing out towels or selling tickets.

No problem about when you go on your trip, I ain't going anywhere, hell half the time I don't leave the house for a week or more. when ever you decide to come on by just give me a call, i'ld be happy to do anything I can to make the trip as fun as possible. Anytime spent with our kids that we both enjoy is good times.

Great food for thought Steve. And with this thought I am considering my options. I have been trying to find another sales on a similar bike. I want to try a good value base. Maybe I could trade this screamer for a decent ATV? IDK. I checked Ebay and there are none for sale there. This bike is all original barn find from 1977. It was top of the line back then. 2 spark plugs in one cylinder. In case one fouls you can just quickly switch it to the other and keep racing!

I know, I know, it's worth what someone will pay for it, right? Well any suggestions for a price base? I was thinking of stating around $800 and bottoming out at around $500. IDK though.

Thanks for your time and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

sounds good to me, gives you wiggle room and you are the one who says ya or nay, as well as it is an antique like our Fieros so it may just get you your asking price right away. who knows, I really haven't looked at bike prices in years so I am of no help in that regard. since my accident in 84 I haven't been able to ride for more than 15 min so it kind of takes the fun out of it. no mater what good luck and ride safe.

and you enjoy your weekend as well.
