Stepped into the AR15 world of guns, I had a smith and wession AR15-.22 that I bought to play with but it got boring real fast, So I traded it in, Got close to what I paid for it and bought this, Its a DPMS A-15
Nice, I just spent the last 2 days with Bigjake on here out at the rage playing with our guns, I have a lar-8 .308 rock river he has a home built ar-15, a sniper rifle and ar ar-15 based handgun. Mine is dead on at 100 yards using a NcStar 4-16x50 MIL-DOT scope I have yet to shoot farther as Saturday was the first time I fired it this is brand spankin new. I love the scope, the best part is the variable power lighted crosshairs, it is cool looking threw in the dark as it is lite up green and super easy to target with.

i just assymbled mine from a pile of parts the last month, the red dot isent that far forward now just using it to line up the rail when i mounted it. ive had pretty god experience with the dpms rifles two friends have them one just like that and the other is the one without the dust cover and forward assist and deflector. the only thing to watch for is on both the gasblock wasent on exactly right it was slightly canted and on one the barrel nut was off a tiny bit
I really like that scope where did you get it and how much was it if you don't mind me asking
I have no idea what retail on it would be, my friend is a Firearms dealer and got it for me well below cost as with the gun and 3-30 round mags 2-20 round mags and 3-10 round mags. Best part is my bud is also full time lawyer and runs his gun shop as a side business.
I am planning on doing a ton of modifications and possibly a second upper for this gun, for now my next step is a free floating hand guard with octagon rail setup so I can add a holographic off to the side of the scope and then a red dot on the other side while retaining the bi-pod. I may do all that to a carbine length barrel instead of the 16 I have on it tho and just free float this one with a floating quad rail.

Congrats! DPMS makes pretty decent hardware.
New AR-15 owners often ask what they should buy for their new rifle. My usual answer is "go buy some ammo and SHOOT it!"
lol ya i have a set of flip ups on mine that was right after i put the handguard on tho lol, and i just noticed neither of the other two have them aswell
i always kinda considered most other guns as built like the fal there is measuring and fitting to get it to all work together but ars all just fit with not real need to head space or be super precise with torque, but i could be wrong
verb: build; 3rd person present: builds; past tense: built; past participle: built; gerund or present participle: building
1. construct (something, typically something large) by putting parts or material together over a period of time. "the factory was built in 1936" synonyms: construct, erect, put up, assemble; make, form, create, fashion, model, shape . . . as·sem·ble
/əˈsembəl/
2. fit together the separate component parts of (a machine or other object). "a factory that assembled parts for trucks"
synonyms: construct, build, fabricate, manufacture, erect, set up, put together, piece together, connect, join
Looks like pretty much the same thing to me. The synonyms even agree.

the words "build" and "assemble" are very close in their meanings, but not exactly the same. assemble has a connotation of the use of pre-fabricated parts, while build can include that, but also has a connotation of using raw materials. you can build a mud hut, but you don't assemble one. in actual practice, the words are almost interchangeable. see the "big words" thread.
yes, we "assemble" ar-15s and we "build" computers. perfectly logical. and cars. maybe because cars and computers aren't tacti-cool.
I dont. If i build, its from scratch no matter what it is, be it a car or something smaller... If i assemble, its from 'manufactured modules' ( clearly there is a practical limit on how far you go down the food chain.. i wont normally go and cut my own screws and cast a knuckle, or burn my own IC's for example.. i could, but i wont.. )
In automotive terms, builders make the sub-component's while assemblers stick the components together .. "assembly lines" Not that either are wrong, as both are needed i just hate to see the words used 'wrong'. "I built this", um no you assembled what amounts to a kit...
A gun from scratch :
A gun from a kit:
