When sixth-grader Adrionna Harris noticed a classmate cutting his arm with a razor blade, she convinced him that his behavior wasn’t a good idea and managed to get the blade from him — and she threw it away.
Apparently no teachers were around during the incident last Thursday, and Harris viewed the circumstances as an emergency. Turns out her actions were officially recognized by Bayside Middle School in Virginia Beach, Va. —
She got a notice of a 10-day suspension and threat of expulsion after telling the administration last Friday what happened — and it’s apparently due to the school’s zero-tolerance policy regarding weapons on campus, WAVY-TV in Hampton Roads, Va. reported.
That story falls waaaaaaaay short. Reason for suspension?
I'm guessing she was supposed to report her actions immediately and hand over the "weapon" as it was evidence?
The school wants to be aware instantly when a student see's another student with a weapon attempting to harm themselves or others? They don't want students to put themselves in harms way?

My thoughts too it does fall short, if we fill in blanks it could be correct that they wanted the "weapon". But to punish the kid by suspension even for that is not right.
The harms way part you wrote, would that mean go get a teacher instead of what she did in this case?

Why don't they just suspend all the students, then they won't have any chance of weapons in school. This is a good example of a good idea gone WAY bad.
I know a guy whose daughter was put on probation because she said the word "shoot" (They were deciding who would go first during recess, and they did that "oncetwicethreeshoot" - you call odds or evens and then you say "oncetwicethreeshoot" and put out one or two fingers... Her and another girl were put on a "yellow probation" list.
This is in our school district. It happened a few weeks ago. However, not at my kids school. The VB school system is totally ignorant, a travesty, and indoctrinated in liberal theology. They are passing it on to kids here. My son and us have had a recent run in with them. My son was sucker punched during a school hockey game. He went unconscious when his head hit the gym floor. The other student proceeded to beat him while he was unconscious until the gym teacher, who was not in the gym, arrived and pulled him off. We were not called until 2 hours later, they were too busy interrogating my son, the one with the concussion. They gave the other boy 5 days OSS, and GAVE MY SON 3 DAYS OSS. Under the schools zero tolerance policy, he is considered "involved" and thus gets the 3 days. All of this was on film. We fought for almost 2 months against this and finally won. A lawyer informed us there was nothing we could do legally because they have immunity unless my son had died or received a debilitating injury. All these years, they indoctrinate our kids not to fight back, and nothing will happen to them. Obviously being unconscious doesn't count as not fighting back. Our school systems are a disgrace.

I agree. The girl says it was an emergency situation worthy of 911, but doesn't go and find an adult? Really? I think they busted her for trying to cover up what happened when they found out about it later. I guess it never occurs to some people that well over 90% of students will lie to try to get out of trouble.

There are plenty of rabbit trails one can go down. Have you found a story supporting your idea in this case?

"ROANOKE, Va. - So many times we hear stories of bad things teenagers are doing. Not today.
Instead we have the story of a 14-year-old hero, a William Fleming freshman, who saved his teacher's life.
It was like any other Monday at William Fleming High School except on this particular test day. Everyone was eating lunch in the classroom when, in an instant, something was wrong.
"Just eating lunch with the kids and I just took a little bite of food and expected it to go down and it didn't go down," said Cathy Dickenson, an English Teacher at William Fleming High School.
"She was at her desk she was trying to say something. She was eating lunch," said Kenny Reynolds, a 14-year-old freshman. "And she just started choking. I heard like a gargle in her voice and she just started running from her desk."
"And I tapped him on the shoulder as I went out. He got up and walked out the door with me," Dickenson explained.
"By the time I got out the door I realized I was really in trouble and I couldn't breathe I couldn't speak . I couldn't do anything," Dickenson said.
That's when Reynolds tapped her on the back - but that did not help. "Her face was red. She was pointing to me and pointing to her throat," said Reynolds. "And she was still pointing to her throat and crying so I just gave (her) the Heimlich maneuver."
Amazingly, the Heimlich maneuver is something Reynolds had learned from his health teacher just three days earlier. Reynolds had asked the health teacher to show him how to do it after hearing his mother talk about it at home.
He told WDBJ7 he had been practicing the Heimlich maneuver in case he ever needed to use it on his younger siblings. He never envisioned that it would be a teacher who would need his help.
Now, classmates have a new nickname for this JV football player - hero. "It makes me feel good because it's my freshman year and to be called a hero and saving my teacher's life, it's a good feeling."
"He's my hero. He knows that," Dickenson said. "He really is. He saved me."
So are you saying a razor isn't a weapon, or can't be used as such?
Not that I think this is right or anything, I don't, but I am truly curious on your though on the question above.
Not saying at all that it can't be used as a weapon. Anything can be used as a weapon, so to speak. But to start classifying tools, stationary, building materials, toiletries and such as weapons is just the PC crap running amuck. If that's the case, I must have 50 or more weapons sitting in my Fiero outside and I'm carrying at least 10 on my person as we speak.
I wonder how this story would have went down at the other school:
Sexual harassment? Assault? Even though he saved the teacher's life, it *could* have wrong. He should be suspended... just in case. (I wouldn't put it past them)

Oh, gee....not like none of us HERE (no, this group of rednecks would never do THAT) has "hidden evidence" of "thrown away the stash" or "flushed" or done something else to help keep a buddy from having problems after they did something stupid... (What??, my buddy didnt hit him, the guy was being an azzhole and got instant karma slipping on the banana peel right there, he got the bust cheekbone when he hit the curb.......quickly chewing the last bite of banana)
No, not the left-wing-nuts---you wouldnt get it. OR why. The ones who have served or the rednecks here (usually the same crowd, funny how that works) will. The good-old-boys, well they may or may not have served, may or may-not be rednecks...but you can bet your azz THEY have

Let me guess.....when your girl is getting raped you will go find a cop instead of ramming a wine bottle up his azz to stop it, (or [pull a gun, but those arent "allllllowwwwwed" by the rules) and feel good about about having run to report. YEH, Soviet Unioni and Hitler Youth and leberalsit school systems have NO problem turning out those types, in high school in the 80's we used to call them "narcs".....they would run to the principal crying "they had one foot on school property and they were smoking"----we might have got a "dont do that again" and the hooof to the nuts they got a few days later may or may not have affected their lifetime reproduction chances.
Ya know man, I once told a licensed librettist female N-Y lawyer (yeh, aint THAT 3-strikes-yer-out) that "I dont give a flying frack about your "rules".....havent heard back since about it, and that was 2008...oh, well.
I was suspended in the 7th or 8th grade for a knife in my locker.
There was camera footage of this kid putting it in my locker (my locker was rigged so I didn't have to use the combination to unlock it).
The same kid who put it in there is the same kid who reported the knife in there.
I was still suspended for it being in my locker. They gave the knife back to that other kid's parents. I missed 1 week of school. I was lucky enough to attend a 1+ hour lecture from EACH family member. My dad even still believed I put the knife in there myself (regardless of footage). My grandma thinks the other kid was my friend. And my mom just lectured me for a couple of hours on rigging my school locker with a paper clip.
To this day, I still don't even know who that kid was who did all this to me.
How's that for zero tolerance and rules are rules...
