Hey guys, eventually I am going to put in a new HU. As of now I have two subs and a 500 watt Cerwin Vega amp tapped into the rear wiring off my Bose amp. The Bose speakers are old though and want to upgrade. I don't want to have to hassle with with removing the Bose amp and going new wire right now.

Although, can I remove the Bose amp and keep the stock wiring and just plug that in?......

anyway...if I keep everything the way it is now, I already have two 10s and a 500 watt amp. just need new speakers and HU....I want to buy and install these.....Polk Audio DB651's.....anyone run these off the the Bose amp?

http://www.crutchfield.com/...lk-Audio-db651s.html

Their 4 OEM, so I am wondering if they would still sound good and be an improvement or a waste of money. My other option is a pair of these, ..Infinity Reference....
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0...coliid=ILWU422C0WBOP

their 2 OHMs and supposedly would match right up and sound great. Like I said, my bass is already good, so finding some good speakers and using a GMS adapter for the new HU when i get it and I should be set for a much Superior system then stock.....

what speakers should I go with? I really like the polk audio, however I am an infinity fan as well. I am just not sure if the OHM difference will be noticeable or not...

money is a bit tight and I have been battling Chrons disease, so I am in and out of the hospital. doing a whole new rewire is a bit labor intensive for me right now.

I figure running a new HU with an integration adapter, keeping my current bass set up and finding some good sounding speakers to run off the Bose amp and I am set for a damn good system over the basic Bose package.

any input would be appreciated. I obviously would rather get rid of the whole Bose system, wish I didn't have it.

I have a Bose sub with satellites I don't know for sure the number but think its the 503 or something like that, as far as bass goes they don't hold a candle to my old 70s Klipsh Cornwall's but you do sacrifice bass with the newer smaller unit in my opinion and have regretted selling my Cornwall's since the day I sold them.

Not sure what to tell you other than what I just did

Be careful of that.

Bose amps usually have built in equalization for their speakers to create whatever effect that they are looking to create. In their home equipment, cubes are just a pair of midrange drivers, so they need what high end that they have enhanced. Similarly, Acoustimasses are midbass speakers in a tunnel enclosure to enhance upper end bass.

Dr. Bose's research was primarily focused on Direct/Reflected sound to simulate the listening environment that one would find in a concert hall. In his research, he found that 22% of the sound heard from an orchestra was direct from the instruments and 78% was reflected around the room before it gets to your ears. The 901, IIRC, had two midranges facing front and eight facing the rear in an array. The rest of the magic came from the equalizer that was hooked up to your amplifier.

In short, your Polks may not sound like Polks when you hook them up to a Bose amplifier. There may also be ports and such where the speakers are mounted, if they were OEM, which were designed by Bose and may sound funny with other brands.

yeah I'm thinking about going with Infinity kappas.... Their rated at 2 ohms, and should be a direct match.
