I would like to buy an affordable smoker for intake system leak detecting . I heard they are on Ebay for as low as 60.00. Has anyone bought one before? I have watched some YouTube videos on these smokers and they seem to be very helpful at finding intake manifold leaks. I have tried propane (with a hose attachment) but it's kind of hard to get the hose all around the plenum, intake manifolds, injectors, etc.. Bottom line is the propane method did not help me find the leak. The smoke method seems more foolproof and safer to boot. Lastly, I know some have made their own but I would prefer to buy one over the counter.
Any suggestions? Thanks, Kit

I have had good luck using the O2 (with hose and nozzle) from an oxy-propane barzing kit like this http://www.canadiantire.ca/...9p.html#.U2XELVdHaM8

You will definatley hear it when the oxygen hits the leak. Or even n oxy-acetalyne torch if you have one handy.

I like starting fluid or water, water is safer. starting fluid is dangerous around hot engine parts. so only use that when the engine is cold, when you hit a vacuum leak it will raise the RPMs quick when it comes close to a vacuum leak.

VERY carefully...I dont do or recommend it. Google "shock cooling". If you do, use a mist especially around aluminum castings.
