We're loving it - awesome show. Have NOT read the books, so it'd be great if those who HAVE read the books can have their discussion in their own thread if they wish to talk about elements that have not been seen on the TV show. (IOW, no spoilers, please!)
Can it be assumed that you are up-to-date and have seen all the way up to Season 4 Episode 8?

Yeah, the last scene in Ep 8 is what inspired this thread.
And as far as book spoilers, the show has killed off/not killed off so many characters that were not killed/killed in the books that I'm not sure how many spoilers from the books would translate into spoilers for the show.
I haven't watched the most recent episode...was way too drunk last night. Jenny is 1 episode behind me. Probably watch both tonight. It has a lot of predictable stuff going on it seems. I totally knew that the Red Viper was going to be Tyrion's champion. It was easy to predict Petyr to throw that ***** through the moon door too.
Natalie Dormer is the hottest chick in the world. GEEZE!!! She is much older than the character she portrays.

Yeah, Obyron championing for Tyrion was a given after finding out The Mountain was going to be Cerci's champion. I didn't exactly see Baelish throwing Lady Lysa through the Moon Door, but I wasn't surprised by the little push.
I'm watching and have read the books. Actually, after the first episode of the first season, I read all the books before the second episode came out.
The show does a great job, but it has taken some artistic liberties. There are a few things that are literally completely different. But overall they are strikingly similar and I can't wait for the future!
I haven't seen this past week's episode, but nothing is a spoiler to me regarding this series lol.

Jenny and my aunt don't like him, but I enjoy his character. He seems to have the most mystery.
LOL. Yeah, hubris has a tendency to do that. When he asked "Who gave you that order!?" I was half expecting Oberyn to throw the polearm at Tywin and pin him to the chair. LOL.

That would have been an ending I would have preferred. Guess that's not how the books were written though.
**Even though previously warned, here is yet another SPOILER ALERT Don't read beyond this point if you haven't seen tonight's episode(S4:E9)**
Now that that's out of the way. A full episode at Castle Black. I was a little surprised, TBH, not only in the 1 location focus, but also in the (less than?) 12 hour time lapse of the episode.
Who saw Ygritte dying tonight? I didn't, and I'm a little sad she's dead. She was the one little piece of humanity left north of the wall.

I was okay with her death. I thought this episode sucked. I guess they are saving it up for the season finale. I believe The Mountain does in fact die. I think someone said Jamie smuggles his brother out of King's Landing. I wonder if the finale will crash HBOGO? What I didn't realize is that unless you have a digital box hooked to a TV, I can only get the basic channels. Fortunately with HBOGO this wasn't an issue. I had previously been downloading the episodes, so this was all new to me.

It was one of my favorite episodes. What, you wanted a battle that has been on the cusp of happening for seasons now to happen in less than a full episode? It was shot well. Movie quality even. I was a big fan.

Same here. It was awesome in a completely different way than the political intrigue and subterfuge we have been seeing.
Last summer while stuck on a long term assignment at a remote mine in Canada I managed to catch the "Red Wedding" episode of GoT and was instantly impressed. I don't have HBO and i don't torrent though so I didn't immediately start watching them. I did, however, buy and read all the books up to current. My wife read them after me and was likewise hooked. Now we're watching the show via DVD boxed sets so I'm only up to season 3 (the latest released to DVD) but will buy s4 as soon as in comes out.
Hopefully it's not a spoiler to say a fake spoiler isn't true, but Uaana was lying just to throw everyone for a loop.
IMO, fake spoilers are just as bad as real ones. So I wanted to clarify.
Yes Uaana read the books Yes just messing around.. Next Ep should be awesome.
For Arya fans, she does spend a lot of time just walking around. My biggest laugh with her is how they keep her in a 12/13 yr old character.. but her 16yo chesty body betrays that.
Just finished the season finale and all I have to say is Holy F*CK! There were quite a few things that I didn't see coming. I need to sleep and process it all, it was so amazing, before I'm going to be able to give my thoughts on it.
