Has anyone used Karma Wireless https://yourkarma.com/ ? They have prepaid data that does not expire. They use the Clearwire 4G network which recently merged with Sprint. You pay for the hot spot device, then any data you want. It looks like it would be good for sporadic use like weekend or vacation trips.

if its just for occasional use, just root/jailbreak your phone.

You should really do some research before you do anything with Clearwire.
