Made ya look. This kind of stuff makes me think that humans' brains are actually shrinking. Never been a big a fan of zero tolerance because I think it sets examples for children that all situations in life are cut and dry; on or off; black or white. It takes away the responsibility of the school staff to make a judgement call because they're assuming that they will always make the wrong call or can't make decisions better than those who made the rules.
Now I could definitely see if the dress were half-way up her thigh. But this dress is rather conservative for what I've seen being allowed in many schools. Something tells me the particular teacher involved in this had an ax to grind with the student. So it may have been less about strict adherence to a dress code and more about revenge. If it was about revenge, well then there's a good lesson teachers can pass on.
I suspect she looked better in the dress than her teachers did and that caused a problem. (the girl is not unattractive by any means, but not drop dead attractive either IMO)
Last 1/2 of the last day she will ever attend that school, she had worn the same dress previously with no problem and they send her home? Teacher's self anointed ego run amok.
"She's worn the dress to school before" So we are saying that a 17 year old hasn't grown over the course of a year? The dress could have fit last fall, and be too short now. (It could also have been adjusted.)
quote
“If her dress is too short, then my dress is too short,” Redwine told WGHP, “and I’m going to wear it in front of everybody and be proud just like she should have been able to on her last day.”
Well that's just ignorant. The dress, or even a different dress will fit someone else differently. Not everyone has the same length from waist to knee.
** start extreme dripping sarcasm ** But don't you know that before your kids leave for school you must take a tape measure to their clothing? Every day dammit! ** end extreme dripping sarcasm **
I have the perfect solution for conservative America:
Many garments sold here are made in Pakistan or Bangladesh anyways so large-scale imports could be arranged quickly IMO.
It is ironic that a liberal like you blame (it or joke) about the radical nature of islam when it is people like you that are letting this happen to the World.

Have you been drinking? If anyone on this forum is on record as being EXTREMELY critical of religious extremism (heck, ANYTHING religious!), it's me...
The difference to many on here is that I think ALL religions are equally coo-coo in principle (luckily not in practice...anymore).

My comment was purely political, not religious. I dont see conservatives arguing for shirea law in the U.S.A. Those birkas are more suitable for liberals and progressives. And, no not drinking.

LOL for some, ANY " reason" made up or not, is good enough to spew hatred towards the the Muslims and liberals.
I always thought most schools say no to straps smaller than like 2" and no cleavage either. That dress to me isn't to short, but the top is kind of low for school I would think.
L8r,
Kevin
P.S. Looks like their dress code does cover both: Shorts, skirts, skorts, and dresses shorter than mid-thigh. o Mid-thigh is a difficult measure; to be sure that shorts are an appropriate length, the inseam should be a minimum of 5”. Shirts and blouses that do not cover the waist, midriff or go past the waistline. Straps must cover half of the shoulder area. Spaghetti straps/thin straps are not permissible, especially those that allow view of bra straps.

I guess not. You won't see me do it, either. What was your point again?
So, you can just throw out an insult at conservatives and then pull the " It wasn't me" card? OK, typical liberal response. I guess that is all you got?
school policy used to state shoulders had to be covered for my school. So it violated that part. Roger sorry maybe I am old fashion but your pics for everyday wear are just insane. I prefer a girl that can dress in unrevealing clothes I hate skirts that short.
For the most part, I don't really pay much attention to what the kids wear. I've got better things to do with my limited time than to police the dress code. About the only time I will say anything is if there is butt crack or butt cheek showing. Some of my kids grow several inches throughout the year and clothes that were okay at the beginning of the year might not be okay at the end. Also, when they hit their 'growth spurt', kids don't always grow evenly- some get long arms and big heads, or a long waist and stumpy legs. To keep it simple, I just tell my girls that if they stand with their hands down by their legs and their dress/skirt/shorts are at least as long as their fingertips, they are probably okay. (except for the kid with the really short arms...it happens)

A fault? It's not my job to find your faults--that, is your job. You posted that statement in another thread. I copied it and pasted it here. You infer I'm an internet punk for saying exactly what you had said earlier in the day.

Line it up. Lets see what you got, internet guy" bully". LOL. I stand by what I have said. AND if I was wrong, I will admit it.
See, we can agree. This is a learning curve for you. Read deeper and ask more questions, even to those that " think" they are in controle or know it all.
