First off, if this belongs in the "Other Cars" section tell me and I will gladly continue it over there. Now I lay out my problem. As of now I have a FA4A-EL transmission without a TCU and it's no longer an option to re-use the stock unit as the stock ECU is gone also. I know I can manually control the solenoids for shifting through the gears but that still leaves line pressure unregulated and on a chassis so light the harsh shifts will be extremely troublesome. I can bring a calculated load off of the MegaSquirt just as the stock ECU would but I have no idea how to translate that into something that I can output to the regulator on the transmission. Any ideas?

Little bit more info, the drivetrain is out of a 2002 Kia Spectra. Some of you are probably thinking that there's no way a cruddy Kia would be light enough for hard shifts to be a problem. Well, this is only about 1/3 of a Kia. Build thread is on another forum if you want more info. It has come a long way since this picture but it's still far from done.

Thanks, though I think I'll be fine without the bar. Most of the driving is going to be on gravel and I doubt the puny 1.8 could pull enough to lift the front, even on pavement.

As am I. The thing is either getting the front subframe out of my buddies 3000GT or I'm going to cut up the front of an ATV, but front suspension is a must-have.
