Yup.
A few years ago I was at an event that had a radio DJ in his late 60's broadcasting live. The following song came on, and I hadn't heard it, nor heard of Wolfman Jack. At the time I was working on Howlin' Wolf's guitar style and was really exited to hear the song.
I asked the DJ during a commercial break if the song was about Howlin' Wolf, he looked at me really confused and said "Who's Howlin Wolf? Haven't you ever heard of Wolfman Jack?" He felt the need to make a joke about people my age (half his).
I wanted to jab back at him, considering he makes a living in radio broadcasting playing classic rock and never heard of one of the best in blues, Howlin’ Wolf. To me that’s a bit like a mechanic who has never seen a screwdriver. But I didn’t, just moved on.
Funny enough, I researched a bit and Jack’s character was based off Howlin’ Wolf’s style. The more ya know…
