A video of him handling his little friend would clear things up.

I actually encountered one of these things I'm pretty sure. Earlier this summer me and the wife were out on a drive in the Fiero, I was minding my own business driving along when I felt something brushing up against my left leg. Up from the depths of my door map pocket climbed this Satan creature. I honestly almost put it in the ditch trying to get pulled over without pissing this thing off. By the time I got stopped it had made its way up to the inside door handle so I had to open the door from the outside. I've never gotten out of a car so fast in my life and was dancing around like a little girl that just saw a spider. I managed to dispose of the creature with my road atlas (try that with your GPS) and stepped on it just to be sure. I was pretty lucky because it was pretty slow moving, if that thing would have become air born all hell would have broke loose. I'm not sure if it had flown in the window or if it had been napping there the whole time. I was about 75 miles from home and have not seen one around my place.

When I got home I Googled "giant hornet" and up popped a wiki article about the Japanese Hornet. While it looked like what was in my car, the wiki article said it was native to Asia. I did a little more searching and found, to my horror, that these things have been spotted in North America recently and even in Iowa.
