Just curious as to who's got the highest mileage Fiero out there. I won't count my 88 Formula, it's got a different engine which IMHO eliminates it from contention. How many miles are on your Fiero? Which engine went the furthest, the 2.5L Duke or the 2.8L V6?

Obviously, someone is looking for a squabble.

Ron,

My red T-Top Mera had more than 200,000 miles on it with the 2.8 L engine and I have added another 15,000 plus since the 3800 SC swap. I know that there are likely many people that have in excess of 200 k miles but I believe that mine is one of the few "show" car with that many miles.

I've seen a Duke with over 400k miles that claimed to be unrebuilt. It was not restored and appeared to be in low-average daily driver condition.

Sold it a few years ago, but when I did my 86 2m4 had 255k on it. Appeared to never have been taken apart but who knows. I'm sure there are members with more tho.

Not a Fiero, but my 1990 Grand Am's Duke had 356k, it was taken apart some of the way around 300k due to the oil pan geting ruined bashing it on a pothole and causing seal leaks, had the timing cover replaced too, but other than that the engine didnt need work. Crazy. Eventually what I think was the oil pump began making a whirring noise and by this time the body of the car was rusting real bad, I sold it for a few hundred bucks.

The most I've seen on a Duke was 295+/-. I'm not saying there aren't any out there with more miles but, I haven't seen them. I do think the Duke was a more reliable motor than the 2.8L based on what I've seen. Most I've seen on a 2.8L was about 200K.

My 89 Grand Am duke had somewhere near 300k on it when the tranny finally went. Motor was never touched and honestly abused for the better part of its life. Dad bought it as a program car with 15k or so on it and drove it up to about 250k when my 18 year old self took over. Those last 50k were rough If it weren't for the trans going, I'm confident that motor had another 100k in it.

NEFA had a member who had 500,000 miles on it and that was back in 2007. The member moved to AL so don't know if he still has the car. Rick was meticulous about taking care of this car. Here's a link to the cover picture from the Fiero Pride newsletter - June 2007. http://fieropride.com/newsletters/2007-06.pdf. Read Rick's story on page 10.

Hello Gwen,
Hope all is going well. Tell Phil I said howdy. Hope you're taking care of my 88 T Top. You do know I have room for it in the shop now.

I've got an 86 iron duke with 336k on the car. I say "on the car" because I'm unsure if the engine was ever previously replaced, and after swapping in a rebuilt iron duke a month ago I know it's not the original anymore.

I ran my 2nd 87 GT as a DD for about 100k miles without a major problem ( it did eat o-rings on the distributor and quite a few ignition modules ). I got it with right at 100k..

( popped a head-gasket at around 220k.. and the frame was too rusted to bother with the expense and trouble 'drive it till it dies and it becomes parts' sort of car. )

I was extremely disappointed when my 89 Grand Am bit the dust exactly 10 years after I bought it new. I don't recall the mileage but it wasn't a lot.

But then again, most cars run the other way when they see me coming.

Hi, Ron

Had my/your T-top out at a cruise night tonight and it is nicely tucked back in its garage. Tops were taken out back in June and I don't plan on them going back in until it gets cold.

I'll say Hi to Phil for you.

Take care,

Gwen (Phil's wife)
