Just make sure the line will route 911 emergency calls to your LOCAL responders. I've seen horror stories where people bought cheap VOIP service and had 911 emergency calls routed to a mid-West call center .

or just keep the cell phone charged up and available for an emergency. Most, if not all, cell phones will still dial 911 even without 'service'.
