I've been replaying this game in HD , graphics upscaled and in is hooked up to my HDMI TV. the game looks nothing like a ps1 game would on the same TV. No pixelation everything smooth and in high resolution so the cars look drop dead gorgeous every logo easy as clear as day to see. I've been on a budget so this is pretty much the only game that I've been playing and enjoying as of lately. I still cannot believe how I'm head of it this time this game was. I have a 69 Corvette Stingray special edition that I built, I'm trying to get the suspension settings perfect so that I could just fly around my corners like I do in my 89 Supra in the game.

what are some of your favorite or memorable cars from the game? I personally like to buy mid engine cars and trick them out. I have a dodge concept car that's made engine with a ton of horsepower close to 600. I got that thing sticking to the ground and corners like theres no tomorrow. another favorite of mine is a tricked out four all wheel drive Nissan Skyline with a drag race body kit 555hp. the got it from winning a race. The majority of my cars have been one from winning races, I'm pretty picky with what I buy but eventually I want to trick out all my favorite cars and cars that I've owned. I wish there would have been More GM cars.

the rally part I'm trying to get into but I cannot figure out a good suspension configuration for driving around dirt tracks

Here's an example of how amazing the graphics are upscaled. at sure enough warranted enough to breathe new life into the game. Especially for the gamer on a budget

I would spend hours tweaking transmission ratios, suspension settings, etc. Loved that game!

I liked the MR2 as it was the closest I could get to a fiero
The honda beat or autozam AZ1 were fun little cars, too (I forget which one is in there).
I also liked the daihatsu hijet mini truck just for the silliness

On the other side of the scale, the toyota gt-one was great fun to drive, as was the suzuki escudo pike's peak car.
Here's the escudo's successor from 2011: http://www.monster-sport.co...msppihc110626_05.jpg beat the hillclimb in under 10 minutes!
Also liked the vector cars as they were the closest thing to a lamborghini in the game.

Using a program on my PC that allows you to play ps1 games with enhanced graphics and sound here is a video of Gran Turismo 2 so you can see it in motion. hook up your PC to your TV via HDMI and use any USB control of your liking from ps3 to Xbox to any PC USB controller. I prefer using my xbox 360 controllers since it has dual joysticks and many buttons. also since its Microsoft you plug the controller and I attended stalls itself. You could even use wireless with the right adapter

I agree, there's a lot of interesting little mid engine and four wheel drive mid engine 98 horsepower Japanese cars in this game. one of the first car I bought was the the v12 Vector 5.7 liter M12. I have an 80s mr2 and a special edition 90s one I won from a race, it has a wide body kit. some cars can only be found on some days and periodically appear in the used section. I found a seventies skyline. also a Datsun 240 so far

I bought the ps3 version of the day it came out I enjoyed many many many nights with that game tuning til the Morning Sun rose. that was back in 2010 or 11 since then I've fallen on hard times do not own a ps3 anymore but I still have my giant collection of over 100 ps1 games and they look stunning and enhanced graphics via HDMI and PC.

same goes with any video game system that came out before the ps2, I have them all and all the games on my PC hooked to TV

My favorite car in that game was the Mitsu GTO. The AWD made it launch really well. I was able to tweak the suspension and differential to make the handling very predictable. It was basically an "easy button" car.

96 Toyota Supra was my workhorse in that game. Wasted many late night hours on that game actually.

Sounds like everyone has a different go-to. Would be fun if we could dust off the old discs and post some lap times for fun I know that's not practical for everyone, but I'd give it a go sometime

one of my best handling cars was the Ford Europe s200 mid engine all wheel drive one only problem is the maximum horsepower is under 500 so it cannot hang with the big boys in the final races

what's the longest endurance race anybody has completed in this game? Mines was done last night a 50 lap 2 hour race. It won me 500,000 dollars and a Lancia, the sleek looking mid-engine all wheel drive rally one.

here's the bad boy that won the race for me easily I lapped two opponents I made pit stops every 6 laps.
